Thanks, it's hard hearing them cry.
Was out for 10mins earlier taking bf to train station, crated him and could hear him from the car but when I got back he was quiet so thats a huge improvement already. Tonight I will crate him but sleep downstairs .0 -

He is such a sweetie! How do you manage to drag yourself away from him? I would be sat watching him 24/7!0

Aww bless him, he's just gorgeous!Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £19,575.020

What a cutie; he's a special one - I'm sure he'll give you many years of fun and selfless friendship.
Here's a tip I've used in the past for infant pups in their new home(s) - get a little travel-clock (or general small clock) that ticks; i.e. NOT a digital clock, but your more traditional-style timepiece. The key thing is that it's a ticking clock.
Wrap the ticking clock in a towel or blanket and place it in your pup's bed (either caged or otherwise; wherever the little fellow feels comfortable and safe. I've never caged my dogs, but one of my friends has a new pup who LOVES his cage and happily chooses to sleep there above all other options).
The ticking of the clock within the blanket/towel will remind the little lad of his mother's heartbeat and the blanket/towel will represent the soft warmth of her body. Hopefully this will provide comfort and help with his crying. It won't always be like this. Even WITH the clock and blanket, he will learn to be comforted by you and grow out of his yearning for his natal basket.
Word to the wise though - if the ticking clock has an alarm, ENSURE that you disable this function! Trust me; you don't want a newly-reassured, and soundly sleeping contented little pup to have the bejeezus scared out of him by a 6.00am shrill alarm bell
!!!
What a lucky little fellow, to find a home with someone who cares about him so much. When he's a bit older, he'll always be welcome to come and bark hello to us here or at http://jasper-thedogsblog.blogspot.co.uk.html!
Wishing you MANY happy years together to come! xx0 -
Thanks will pick up a ticking clock, we dont have them as they drive OH crazy but will get one for pup.
Tempted not to crate him tonight as he is sleeping on the floor by the sofa (which is where i am sleeping tonight because I am watching the tennis!!) and he has been there for ages! Have covered up ALL potential hazards so not sure. If he wakes up before I fall asleep i will crate him but really don't want to distress him mid sleep.0 -
Aww I could cry for them when they are upset being taken away from their mother and litter mates. My two didn't cry when I brought them home (they are brothers) but they were up early hours of the morning, now they sleep till 8am - I wish they would sleep longer so I can have a lie in on a Sunday

That's the right thing to do. Trust your instincts - we can all offer hints and tips but, ultimately, only YOU know what's best in your/his personal circumstances. Let him kip with you by the sofa, if that's where he's happy. It sounds to me very much like he's now associating YOU with comfort/love/security, which is as it should be. Enjoy the tennis and your sweetly-sleeping doggle! xx0
