RE Rolex pictures ebay scam

  • Why do ebay not stop this? It is done wholly with intention to deceive and the listings are also made in actual item categories, not in photographs!

You could always send the seller a question asking outright if it's for a photo of the item or the actual item itself.

Actually, I wonder what would happen if they got flooded with similar questions from ebayers? Would be interesting to see if they published any of them on the actual listing? If they answer you but don't publish the question, then it's a clear case of trying to mislead, surely? Why else would you not clarify something more than one potential buyer had asked you about? ;)

Apparently on the ebay forums (there is a thread on this listing) the Op did message them and was told it was indeed just a picture. No publishing of the question on the listing though!
  • It should be stopped by eBay, it is blatantly misleading, try reporting it but I doubt it will get pulled.

Maybe too late i reported the vase auction.

And it seems to have been removed. So maybe they are doing something on this one. Checking the sellers identity?

Maybe i should have make a fake account and bid, Probably live close enough to go and video them.

    Post it online.

I had emailed about the vases last night and he did reply early this morning with a single word - picture. So maybe he has pulled the auctions himself if hes had a few queries? So wrong.

Ebay really don't want this being on their site. There are often other reasons why listings are kept live longer than seems necessary. Once the listings/accounts are closed the culprits are harder to catch.

No matter how 'in the right' the sellers may think they are, they are intentionally deceiving, which is a criminal offence. I suspect (and hope) we'll be reading about these criminals in the news shortly.
