    Hello,

I have an rather overgrown allotment which we will sort out eventually and hopefully a 10 x 8 shed but, I would really love a greenhouse to help things along next year.

Could I make one? I have seen nice new ones but at about £200+ it not really money saving.

If not, anyone know where where I could get one cheap from? I am in Leicester if that helps for buying one.

    Hi there lucylema

Why not try freecycle :j where you could get one for nothing :j or look in the ads in the paper as some people sell them for a pittance,,:T we paid £40 for one of ours and there was all the glass with it as well :T ,,,, it was just in there way and they wanted rid of it ,:D , so instead of paying £200 which could probably be spent somewhere else why not try freecycle,,

There is a thread on here all about Freecycle and ther is probably a freecycle in your area as it is worldwide

    Hope this helps

    Thanks for the reply.

I have looked in the local paper, keep putting wanted adds on freecycle and always miss the ones offered on freecycle.

hi i agree with the above, there are plenty of people giving greenhouses away on freecycle and in the local newspapers, normally free if you are happy to dismantle and collect. another idea try googling how to make a greenhouse. i saw in my local paper the other day that a local school made a greenhouse for the veg garden with plastic bottles, the orange squash bottles. it looked really good! was recycling! and worked great as the air trapped in the bottles really kept it warm. you could also by a plastic greenhouse, i have a walk in one cost me £30.00. or you could made one from perspex, im thinking of doing this aswell next year as i have young kids and football and glass greenhouses dont go.x hope this helps.

Am interested now and might sound stupid... how would you make a greenhouse out of bottles as this seems a good thing to do if you have little room for a full size greenhouse?

I made my greenhouse... well actually I have made two now! The original thread is here:

So far they are holding up brilliantly. And if one of them does die I think running repairs would be fairly easy. It might give you inspiration on how to build one with bits you have lying around!
  • omg that is soooo cool. makes me want to go out and start drinking pop by the gallons!!!!!!
