Can anyone help - I'm knew to this!
Manage to pick up the odd reduced bargain at Tesco, but struggle for anything thats not in the small fridges reduced section - where do you normally find bread / bakery reduced items ? & anything else which isn't with the usual milk / diary / meat reduced section?
Also, any ideas on the best times to pick up some of these bargains - have had a couple of good buys mid-late afternoon, then had a visit around half 7 the other night, to find everything being reduced dramatically but 3-4 people hovering until the member of staff put the items down and within a second this one man had just picked a WHOLE pile up without even looking at what was there and popped it in his trolley, whilst I'm hovering at the back feeling like it would be rude to go and have a rummage!
Thanks!!
I always check out where to find the reduced shelves when I go to different supermarkets, staff are usually willing to tell or show you. Next I ask when the best time to go to get the reductions and talk to staff doing the reductions. Being chatty pays dividends as its often the same staff that do it daily. Finally so long as you are polite be bold and move in, if you don't someone else will. Be prepared to watch and wait. I always go at reducction time and check it out just before so I know what to wait for. Sometimes I'll be there for over an hour, but its worth it0 -
Ive picked up a few things now and again, but had never actually been there at the last reduction time until this week, managed it again tonight. Have been eating from the freezer for over a week to try & get rid of things I couldnt even remember buying - and was shocked when I looked in there today to find almost 2 full empty shelves.
Managed to get some reduced mince (£1.24 for 800g - will do for a good spag bol), sandwich meat (3 decent portion at 45p each), pork pies (pack of 4 for 70p), & 18 petit filous yoghurts (£1.79, as they were a 3 pack of 6 that the packaging had come loose on so were bagged up) - buy these anyway for my little boy so good price compared to the £2.99 I normally pay!
Then managed to get 12 pack of warburtons ready slice rolls 73p, & warburtons farmhouse loaf 60p - now firmly packed away in the freezer for when we run out!
My next challenge is milk, managed a 4 pint for 64p a couple of weeks ago as was just passing the reduced isle not intending to look and saw it on the shelf. Gutted as when i went in the other day they had 3-4 4 pints reduced to 35p or so and the area was crammed with people, one of which who grabbed half of all the shelves including the milk!
Even got my partner wanting to hang around and see what bargains he can pick up!!0 -
Got some cheese in mr m last night from 2.55 to 39p..........in the freezer it went!!!
MIL stayed at ours the other month and said she didnt know there was a specific store that only sold yellow label products:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:, cos thats what my freezer is full of!!!Sam B0 -

Scottish hot smoked salmon flakes £2.79 reduced to 50p, I got 2 packs
375g diced chicken breast £3.75 reduced to 70p
2 chicken breasts with a tomato and chorizo sauce £3.50 (I think) reduced to 65p
Haslet and pork luncheon meat - 20p and 30p
Some good meals there!
Tesco Express -
Egg mayo sandwich filler £1.40 reduced to 14p
Cheese and onion filler £1.40 reduced to 14p
Stir fry sauce £1 reduced to 10p - I got 2
Bean sprouts 60p reduced to 6p
Jalapeño hummus £1 reduced to 10p
Not going round this evening, going to use some of the fresh bits up first0 -
cazj80 - fantastic bargains, quality stuff from the Co-op.
I got a pizza last night from Sainsbury's for 64 (from £2.49) and that's it since Sunday.
I'm trying not to spend this week though.
Good luck and looking forward to more great bargains. I'll have to try the "Yellow Label" shop. lol

I'd love a yellow label shop near me, my freezer is full of either ys or food bought on offer. I don't buy much at full price now, mainly milk or things I specifically need and aren't on offer or reduced. I hate doing it though!0

I got 4 packs of Tesco finest sausages down from £3.68 (ish!!) to 50p a pack, and also I found loads of Jamie Oliver fish cakes to 35p in frozen section, so not a whooopsie exactly.0
-
hels123 - I would class those fish-cakes as "whoopsies" - possibly something they are getting rid of or because they are close to date or because more stock coming in etc.
Certainly not an offer price.
Definitely a great bargain though.

What about those of us on special diets ? I do low carb organic for my diabetes and I can count on one hand the number of YS products I've had
On the other hand I saved 14.99 by buying a Monsoon Home 'Tia' canvas wall art canvas at Debenhams not Homebase  That's ten loaves of organic wholemeal bread at Waitrose non-offer price0
