Growing up and facing the debt burden

  • In a strage turn of events, I got a rejection from Tesco bank saying I had already applied there... I then did a bal transfer to my barclays account to reduce the amount i get charged. Now tesco sent me forms to complete... Must have been a system error. Will def apply for the card and 0% for 22 months. If I can take out the interest on halifax and no interest on barclays till April, hopefully can pay off the loan by then so I can get out of debt in one place....

Still need to buy quite a bit of clothing for skiing and cycling to work.

Off to Edinburgh for the weekend and then travel free till mid dec... Also got to go out for my cousing wedding which is in SA!! Its in Feb or so but thats another £1k of spend coming my way soon.....

Have managed to spend £10 in the last 2 days and have lunches for the rest of the week so should be cheapish end to the week.

  • November has been an incredibly expensive month and I cant wait for it to end. I have kept an expense tracker of literally everything that I have spent and its not pretty reading.....

The upside is I will know where to focus on in December (I am going skiing which I now wish I wasnt as I could have saved the £650 +£450 clothing costs to pay down debt) and will really focus on knocking down the debt pile in the new year. Tempted to take 6 months off drinking and get fit as that is where the most of my cash goes... Going out drinking....

The good news is I am moving into a house share with people I know well in February and get along with which should make being at home a far more pleasant experience.... I know there will be some people that will be amazed by the amount I have spent this month as am I and I certainly havent acted like a man that wants to reduce his debt.

I am getting a 0% card which I can move money onto that is incurring a fee and I am looking forward to trying to pay off my 1 loan asap so I can then focus on the cards.

I still have to book an overseas flight in Feb for a wedding which will be £600. After that though I should have minimal expenses between Mar and October (where I am going to another wedding in Taiwan/Aus)

Look at the bright side, even in an expensive month you paid down debt. Additionally, you also made an investment (ski clothing) that you will use in years to come!

  • Thanks Indebted dunce - OI was worried when I looked at the paymnets vs salary then realised a lot of my payments (like this month) are against debt then I was double counting!!!

  • 29/11 budget £20 actual £40 so £20 down on the month (pay check to pay check month for me) paid for the Sat party entry and I stayed out a bit late which lead to a £15 quid cab ride home... I have a lot of work tomorrow and an hour journey was not a sensible option....

With that night diary and those that like watching a car crash in motion!!!

  • Spend until end dec - £950 (32 days = £30 a day) spend so far £45/£950.... will track everyday and I know next week will be a cheap one. tonight was good and a great time but the cab ride did hurt... but was a necessary event

  • Unless you go skiing fairly often and would get the wear out of them, have you thought of maybe Ebaying the ski clothes when you get back again? Maybe keep the gloves and any scarves or hats though, if you're planning on cycling to work all through the winter, they'll probably come in handy!
