Retentions dont always call back!

Hi
More of an observation than a moan actually but heres my recent experience with TMobile
My contract is in its final 30 days and I phoned to see what kind of an upgrade they would do after several years with them and some big bills in the last 6 months, the answer being one from their website with no perks at all to entice me to stay
I then politely asked for my PAC and they asked what would make me stay, after giving the usual iphone 5 speech I then mentioned that a Galaxy S3 at a good price probably would do the trick, the operator then offered the same deal from the website which was £150 for the phone plus the monthly fee
I said that CW will do it on the high street for £50 and its available online for just the monthly line rental or even less if I could be bothered with a cashback and/or redemption site but she didnt budge
Almost 2 weeks later I still havent had the expected call back from retentions so am guessing that they dont want to keep me on the terms I mentioned
This is obviously the risk of going down the retentions route to get a good deal but the fact is I already have a Giffgaff PAYG SIM to port my number to and arent that bothered by the hassle of this
In reality I will probably stay PAYG for a little while to see what happens when the iphone does hit the shelves, Im not desperate for a shiny new phone but it would have been nice to have felt like Id got a deal
So there you go folks, the moral of the story is...........
....... redemptions dont always call back and sometimes you will have to carry out your threat of leaving the network to get a beter deal
Best of luck

so was an offer made that you declined?
sometimes profitable customers can't be saved, as giving in to their demands could make them non profitable.
New networks dont know your spending habit etc so willing to offer betters deals on a (lets hope this customers make us a profit) basis. If you keep on doing what's you've always done, you'll keep on being what you've always been...:think:0 -

Yes
I was offered the phone at the £150 handset price quoted on the TMobile website, its available at CW for £50 or "free" online with cashback available too at others
So if I did want it, and Im not sure I do but I certainly dont at 150 quid, it will cost me 150-200 pounds extra to go through the TMobile upgrade process versus buying it through Quidco online as a new customer and porting my number back in from Giffgaff
Cheers!0
