car smells?

I had a curry smell in one of my previous cars and it was caused by mildew/bacteria in the ventilation system. Very unpleasant the first time the heater was used in the autumn/winter.
I think there's stuff available to clean it out these days.

The smell of a bird cooking on the radiator is always a favourite of mine
Does anyone know how long, say a blackbird, wiill take to fully cook through?0 -
A while back when I put my aircon on it smelt like S**t did my head in, seems to have disappeared now. What was that all about and why?

My Ford Ka seems to smell when i get out of it.it's a kind of curry type smell coming from the engine.I have filled all the fluids up and its not overheating.my oh says i'm too heavy on the clutch though.any ideas?
Depends how old the Ka is and maybe how many miles its done clutch may be on its way out.
Couple of things to try.......
When you have changed gear or used the clutch do you take your foot completely off the pedal ?????
If you rest your foot on the pedal you are effectively partially operating the clutch and causing it to 'slip' thats why its smells.
If you leave the handbrake on put the car in 2nd gear put a LITTLE bit of throttle on and gently release the clutch pedal.
If the engine stalls then the clutch is probably OK
If the engine revs stay the same as you gently release the clutch pedal until you can take it all the way off and the car does not stall then your clutch ( or your cars !!) is virtually gone.
I would then get it to a garage before you get let down .....usually at the busiest junction in town !!

My friends hubby who is a car expert looked at it today and it was a leaking water hose cos the clamp had split. He sorted it out and sealed it again for me so fingers crossed thats it now.i was convinced it was the clutch but he said if thats going it makes an even worse smell:p"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
