TBH, the thread was an enquiry of all readers / posters as to how all of their crops had done this year, not to answer any questions about specific plants.
You would have been better starting a thread with your question about your tomatoes, or searching for a thread about tomatoes for more advice.0 -
Tomatoes. Rubbish! Still not fully grown and not as much fruit as previous years, only picked 2 so far.... (I've grown them for 15 years and this is the worst year ever)
Cucumbers, brilliant
Courgettes, not bad but have had better years.
Carrots, not bad.
Salad crops, very good.
Chillis, rubbish
Sweet Peppers, rubbish.
Can't remember such a dismal year!

Oscargrouch, better off to do your own thread. If nobody can help then your post gets overlooked...
From your pictures l would guess like you..... too cold a night?

Tomatoes great, runner beans fab, chili doing well, peppers rubbish, butternut squash just starting to grow into proper squashes.....planning lots more for next year

And my herbs have gone mad, especially the sage.....!....Practically Perfect in Every Way......:grinheart0 -
Fruit
5 apples on the Braeburn but this is the first year they have fruited since getting them early 2011. Nothing on the plum or pear trees.
A good supply of raspberries that are now in the freezer.
Decent enough supply of strawbs from late June to early August but nowghere near as good as last year - too much rain.
Tomatoes - very disappointing and only now getting small quantities of them.
Rhubarb - a plentiful supply for what we use.
Blackberries - loads on the country roads and have collected a good 20lbs or so.
Veg
Starting off with the positives -
Parsnips - best ones I've grown yet.
Celery - 6 great plants that were bought from a garden centre and have grown rapidly.
Carrots - decent crop as usual.
Peas and Beans did well enough considering the winds and rain.
Courgettes - a fair amount.
Sweetcorn - still ripening but getting concerned they need picked (do these ripen once they are gathered in?)
And the not so positive
Potatoes - I'm not going to waste my time next year on these.
Onions - poor return.
Leeks - still waiting on them growing from pencils into full size jobs!
Garlic - limited success but need to consider their position this time.
Beetroot - rubbish.
Herbs
Only thing to do well were chives both ordinary and garlic. Basil was the usual failure.0 -

Probably missed by most of us as the thread is about how out crops have done. Ask your question in a new thread, it beats stamping your foot up and down in anger.

NO No No !!
Best advice , start boiling water before picking , then run, back to kitchen .
Ps only bothered to reply otherwise Oscargrouch will tell us all off.0 -
The tomatoes in the wee greenhouse look like little green marbles:eek:
The sweetcorn did its job as screening:o
The Scottish summer:rotfl: was not kind to crops this year.
On a positive note our trees, bamboo and grasses have shot up:DI'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -
Whatt a green fingered lot we are!
I've learnt a bit more about timing and location this year but we can't do much about the weather. The question is - will tthis continue as a weather pattern? My beans seem to have thrived despite anything the weather could throw at them. I think next year it could be beans, beans and more beans
