Can anyone tell me if the sunday market at the Fruit Market is still going? Used to go there loads as a kid but that was many many years ago!

Hi Kit,

The market is still going. I haven't been myself since I was a child. I moved back to Brislington just over a year ago and regularly see people on a Sunday morning heading in and out (carrying lots of bags!), so worth a visit I would have thought.

haha i live really close to smead market last time i went it was years ago and yeah, i'm pretty sure you can get cheaper food, but they used to sell fake cds/dvds altho i heard they got raided recently...

Hi Steve,

Yes the 'Fruit' Market is still going, went there last week - though not as many stalls as when I have been before. It has 3 meat wagons, 2 Fruit & Veg stalls, clothing stalls, music stalls etc.;)

When I was a kid, everyone used to get their leather jackets down the fruit market lol, I live in Brislington and havent been there since I was a teenager. That type of market went out of fashion but if it was more a food market I think it would tempt people back. Must pay a visit soon to see whats there.

Looking at the map I am pretty certain that is where we used to go to buy our wholesale fruit for work. I know nothing about the Sunday market there.

Southmead Market doesnt exist anymore and hasnt done for sometime since they started building the new hospital- i have seen the meat guy at the fruit market on a sunday and also at filton on a saturday (in the leisure centre car park)
