didn't know there was one there, or if I did I assumed it was a normal car boot sale more than a market.

But I have heard there's a community market on Saturdays in Lockleaze these days. Don't know if that's of any use to you?

Might be a bit of a trek depending where you live, but the Sunday one at Bristol Fruit Market or the one at Eastville (behind Ikea) might suit you?

the southmead hospital market is every saturday in the hospital grounds follow market signs for free market parking.it's better than eastville but we prefer chepstow racecourse on sunday mornings.
  • Yes its a proper market-there are no car boot sales there. It is excellent especially for fruit and veg but probably closed by 3pm unless anybody knows better. Great for teenage clothes too. go on a nice fine day for extra stally-half of them are missing in bad weather.

Haven't been for a while, but they've usually got a butcher/van who does good deals on meat. Not worth a long journey though.

Didn't realise there were so many fellow 'Bristle' peeps were on here!

    Eastville market,,,

They sell small crates of fruit off for a pound,, usually seems to be bananas!

    Bags of mushrooms £1.00

    Bag of new potatoes £1.00

    3 aubergines £1.00

    Cabbages 50p-80p

Think thats about right from my memory! I was there friday lol!

Theres also a great food stall which sells stuff coming to end of or just out of date.

I opt for there 24x 48g box of red mill savoury salt and vinegar sticks or cheese balls potato snack. £1.00 !!!

The ones i bought Friday are dated 31 march 2007.

    Great for kids lunchboxes!!
  • Not sure realy as there is always a big queue and I hate waitin but they had about half a box of bananas for £1 about 6 weeks back. I only go about 3 times a year as its 15 miles from me but if i want kids clothes its worth it-then there is cribbs causeway asda walmart I pop in at same time and have a day of it. Yes about noon is good and easier to park than too early. Head right into the market-its a very narrow entryway and cars cannot pass each other so its give and take unless the lads are on duty helping you park.

Eastville market is now held on Fridays and Sundays on the other side of the road behind boots/pets at home/ mothercare/burgerking. I usually park in the retail park and cut through the lane to the market, as their car park is usually full and you have to wait to get in.
