Hello people,
I've been a customer of Demon Internet since 1996, but I have now decided to look at changing to a cheaper broadband supplier (£18/mnth currently).
If I switch to a new provider I will no longer be a Demon customer. I am concerned about what will happen to my '.demon.co.uk' email adress. If I set up with TalkTalk for example will I have to start using a TT email address?
Is there a way to keep hold of my old address?

You would have to ask Demon. In the past BT allowed e-mail addresses to be kept alive for a small fee. I stopped using ISP e-mail addresses a while ago as I got caught in this trap. I now only use webmail (e.g. gmail etc) for this very reason.0

Set up a Gmail account, it takes 5 minutes, you are then ISP-independent forever.
No need or point in using any ISP-linked email address. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Agreed. It is time to ditch and switch, remembering to set up a forwarding rule to the new address which will stay active until the account is fully removed.
This will give you time to spot those using your old address and advise them of the change.0 -
Thanks folks. Gmail it is then.0
