You probably need a standard landline based 0845 but have you considered VOIP?
https://www.sipgate.co.uk provide free 0845 numbers, cheap calls and the hardware isn't THAT expensive. No line rental since you use your internet connection to make calls.
I picked up an old BT ADSL VOIP router from Ebay for a tenner, it now runs on Sipgate after a little bit of software modification with two standard BT phones plugged into it0 -
Thanks Kitty I will look into that.0

if you are going to use an 0845 number please bear in mind that it cost some mobile users a fortune to call sio i would advertise the geo number too0
-
I use http://www.ovaltelecom.co.uk/ to forward to my landline then have a divert on that to my mobile if I'm out of the office.0

Voipfone.co.uk is good and they have lots of other little services which you will probably find useful.0
-
why not have a 0800 freephone instead and not look mean ?! don't forget 0845 no's are NOT included in inclusive landline minutes so some of us, customers, begrudge it whereas freephone numbers absolutely attract people- know mine does [ thro' utility warehouse]- well that and my good looks and beaming smile !!remember always -'' life shrinks or expands in proportion to ones courage''0
-
Maybe because some startups can't afford to pay £x a month plus £x per minute for a phone number?0
-
I would've thought the geographic number is a better option?0

i see it as you cannot afford NOT too have a freephone number. if you can't afford a bill of around £5 p/mnth my guess is you are underfunded to put it mildly, and wont last ! if they bring people in instead of turning them off.. well go figure!remember always -'' life shrinks or expands in proportion to ones courage''0
