this is the Daily Thread for 31th August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning All, long time since I started the thread. Awoke in the middle of the night with a blinding head, think I may had laid funny, too tired to get up to take anything, so turned over, Skye unusually woke up at 5.15am:eek::eek: so I got up to let her out, as DH was doing a dying swan act, managed to set the alarm off while switching it off, sorry neighbours
let her out then put her back to bed, and she is still there now, I took some tablets, and have had another sleep, but awake now, thinking it was 8am got up, only to find it was 7am:o but no good at lying in bed once awake, and too dark to read.
Plans for today, haven't a clue, Dinner will be the chicken I didn't cook yesterday, as fancied beans and egg on toast.:o
(((hugs))) to those who would like one, take care all. DG

Morning all
Hubby has been dropped at work with his pack up, sausage sarnies, baskets watered, fish fed & the GP qually is set to record.
Poor hubby is back to doing a 7 day week, he looked really well after a few days off, but he will get tired again soon if they don't make some attempt to get more staff.
I might pop out today & buy a new mop & bucket, boy do I know how to live!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning folks, happy September. I thought I was an early riser at 5am but I see others have beat me to it.
Just finishing the full english breakie and coffee.
Of to the discount outlet today in hope of finding buckled shoes for the youngest. Anything with velcro disappears and we now have 3 non pairs of shoes. Not bad going considering she's not yet two, and indoor shoes for eldest as she is between sizes and one foot is nearly a whole size larger than the other
Big Bucket of "to be ebayed" is shadowing me as I type so more to listhave been under charging on postage so need to sort weigh and pay there.
Some lovely FREE flowers from a wandering promo Morrisons person in front of me. Dinning room smells lush.
Still tracking the white vinegar - not a "Important" purchase just yet as going through the "junk" under the sink first.
With 16 weeks till Christmas and 4 Birthdays between here and there - the big spend season has begun. Fortunately most of Santa's bag is full already. Just hunting for relations. Next year I hope to make things for everyone when I have the time!
Have a good one folks0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Cloudy, dull and overcast here this morning. There must be something in the air as I didn't sleep very well either, I fell asleep on the sofa but woke at 11.30pm, so decided to go to bed, then couldn't sleep so got up again and made a warm drink, watched tv then went back to bed and did eventually get to sleep but then still managed to wake by 6.30am. DH woke too, so he put kettle on and is now in the bath and I'm with my first cuppa on here! Haven't been sleeping very well again, as this type of night is quite a regular occurrence, so hoping once boys go back to school this week and normal routine resumes it may help. Think my sleepless night last night may have been caused by BIL hitting our garage door with his car and not saying anything. I thought he'd slammed his brake lights on hard, so checked after he'd left and he's completely pushed the door out of the runners but has bent the door, FIL came down and managed to get it back into the runners so it will open and close but you have to slam it shut, I was so cross as he didn't say he'd done it, so sent SIL a text to tell him that when he hit my garage door he's damaged it and that it now needs looking at and that I'll be expecting him to foot the bill - I wasn't nasty about it just so cross that he did it and I saw him do it and he didn't say anything, makes me wonder if I hadn't gone out to move my car at the time they left and saw him would he have actually admitted to doing it?? Company that fitted the door are coming out on Monday afternoon, think they may say the door needs replacing as the impact has bent the door - that's why it doesn't shut properly - I will be having a new door (if thats what's needed) and he is going to be paying!
Dinner last night was breaded chicken pieces, chips and beans for the menfolk, and fish, jacket and green beans for me, ice creams for dessert. Had planned curry for tonight and have everything in to do this but DH said yesterday did we fancy a bbq, not a problem to do either so will wait and see how we get on with the list of jobs and see what the weather does. DH is going to clear the shed out today, last weekend we managed to get rid of the upvc door frame that has been in there for the last 3 years, so we can actually use the shed to store stuff! I will make headway with the ironing whilst he sorts the shed, this afternoon we have to go to our friends' house with a load of equipment to do with caravanning, that is all stored in my loft - seems to be a theme of decluttering emerging here! I nearly forgot, I also took 5 more black bags of rubbish from the boys rooms to the recycling centre yesterday afternoon. Although their rooms are much better as they are now in much more suitable beds, they have cleared their rooms out but once they go back to school - I'll do a proper clear out! We had a productive weekend last weekend and I'm hoping we can do the same this weekend, we spent so much time away for weekends we need to utilise the time when we are at home.
Now going to jump in the shower and then get some brekkie.
Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Hester Mop AND bucket, you really know how to push the boat out!
Bargainbird How is Maud?
I am having a small chest freezer delivered today (cue jokes about me only having a small chest:D).
It is going to take me a while to fill it and someone has told me to put in lots of bread and cardboard boxes to make it run more efficiently. Is this a good idea?
Just pottering for the rest of the day, night pop in to town with DD1 later.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning all,
Had a bad night here too, woke in pain at 4 and took me a couple of hours to get back to sleep, so still tired this morning.
DD is feeling much better now, thanks for the good wishes, I am dropping her off to work in a while.
Need to undercoat the skirting boards today, and finish stripping the paint off of a 1930's door, we found 3 of them on a bonfire, they were too beautiful to burn, so we have then here, OH fitted it and took it off, so we can finish stripping and get it painted and hung.
Dinner tonight will be roast chook with new spuds and some veggies I am being overrun with corgettes and marrows, the only thing that has grown well this year, Oh I did get 4 plums from the tree I planted 2 years ago :T, it takes them a while to become mature enough, so hopefully next year will be better.
BB I hope maud is ok xx
Have good days all.
Hester, you think your life is thrilling, I need to buy hinges and matt gloss today0 -

Morning :hello: Hello Helen :hello:
BB how is little dog today?
I went shopping yesterday, bought the usual plus extra toiletries, extra tins, extra cleaning stuff. Wanted to use my voucher (£5 off a £90 spend) but the total was £81.62. Not sure how that happened, I spend about that normally. The voucher expires on 7th Sept so I'll do my next shop a couple of days early and stock up on loo rolls, tea, coffee, washing powder etc.
I'm a bit bored with my house so I'm going to rearrange a few thingsThen potter about and later on I'll catch up with a couple of programs I recorded during the week.
