When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
Good morning its back to work i go grr
todo
washing
iron
meals from stores
prep sundays dinner
check the banks
bed early
enjoy ur day xxxxxxlppxxxxxxx
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

So...today marks the day I've been posting on this thread for 3 years!! I remember because it was my first day in my new (now old and boring) job and my dad's birthday:) Although I'm not yet DF (sorry, a few other things took priority...
) I know I'm on the right DFW path. My spending habits have completely changed - I can't honestly believe I used to spend about £300 a month on junk!!! - and I've met some fabby friends along the way (that's you guys
).
I'm trying to keep up with the small things today but I'm worried sick about my little puppy
The poor little guy has got Parvo, even though we vaccinated him 3 months ago. He's too young for all of this - not yet 6 months
The vet said it looks like it took so long to come on (2 days) because he'd been vaccinated so that saved his life - gave us a chance go get him to the vet for treatment.
Sorry for the waffle - life is mad at the min
- here's my small things:
- Food from stores
- 2 x £3.50 surveys
- Cleaning the house like a crazy woman & washing everything in sight - our way to minimise the virus even though household bleach doesn't kill it and it can survive in extreme hot/cold temps so the steamer won't work either. We're not allowed any puppies in our house/garden or to see them before vaccines for a year as the virus can survive on loads of surfaces e.g. our clothes/shoes even if been washed for months.
The vets only wear disposable clothes they burn later when they go to visit our little pup in isolation
- Not going on a night out tonight - £25 saved
- Did a bit of a money shuffle - annoying that DDs show to have come out on 3rd Sept (as in 2 days) but SO hasn't gone in...
- Call dad with free wknd mins to wish him happy birthday
- Only posted dad's card; taking pressie next time I see him to save on postage

Take care everyone and please spread the word to all your dog owner friends that their dogs can get Parvo after being vaccinated.
Thanks for the thread LPP0 -
Hope your pup is ok. Poor little mite. Parvo is nasty. Our friends lost their old ollies to Parvo. Hopefully he will be able to fight it and he is in the right place.
Kids have a party today and then i have work so hoping that i can hit another NSD.

Morning ladies:D
La E - your poor little puppy, I hope he's ok, must be so worrying. Sounds scary knowing the virus can't be killed off with bleach and survives hot/cold, awful:(
I'm going to have 2 quiet days - my poor car is kn@ckered. I had to leave it in my work car park yesterday (which is not in the village I live in), it's booked into garage by work on Tues, but I'm worried it won't start to get it to the garage:D Oh well...fingers crossed. So, I'm car-less, I'm staying at home;)
Girls off to their dad's this afternoon so I can crack on with my list - here it is, shamelessly copied and pasted from my diary:rotfl:- Wash girls' bedding (will have to do that later as they're still in bed of course;))
- Tidy my room
- Sort pile of Next returns and book courier online
- clear boxes in dd1's room (from when we moved in;))
- clear pile of books from upstairs hallway
- sort my school stuff - folders & pencil case
- Get girls PE kits ready
- Ironing - mainly school clothes for all 3 of us
- sew coloured thread on back of girls school tights (as theyre all same size but different denier, cant tell them apart!)
- write meal plan for next week
- Amend Asda order
- Dust and hoover whole house
- clean kitchen floor with steam mop
- Sort bro in law's birthday pressie
- upload shop+scan barcodes and photo of receipt - nearly got £40 of Amazon vouchers there:T)
I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
 Morning guys, happy weekend... Thanks for starting us off LPP hope the shift at work is a speedy one!
La E I saw your post on FB last night. I'm so sorry, really sending lots of get well thoughts to bok and hoping you're not too worried. remember a pound of worry never bought an ounze of anything x
Pixie hope the car is just a small thing. How long have you had it? Is it under warrantee?
L2B hope you nab that NSD!

Hi Guys
LPP - Thanks for starting us off
LaE - Thinking of you and your puppy, hope it all works out for you
DNMS - thats not cheeky, I wouldnt expect anyone to bring anything
Feeling a bit down a the min (it would have been my dads 80th birthday on Monday 3rd) which has just been made worse by receiving a phone call asking us to make an emergency visit to mum, while waiting for hubby to get home I've done lots of ironing and even managed to sort a few more bits for the charity shop - if they were big this summer then they'll be no good at all next summer thats how determined I feel about sorting my weight issues.
Not sure if I'll get back on this weekend but sending you all my love, best wishes and positive vibes where needed, love you all

Its 4 years old, though I just bought it last July..and the extra years warranty I got has just run out:( The guy at the garage thinks its the electrics somewhere as I get a warning telling me to stop that the engine temp is too high (the dial is sky high), but I get that even when the engine is stone cold in the morning. Hopefully its just that affecting the starting up too. I'll be glad when its all fixed, you don't half rely on cars:o Frustrating that I've been off 6 weeks and it's been ok, then it has probs when I need it to get to work on Monday!
And no, its not cheeky to just turn up with a card - especially if you're not drinking or eating their bbq meat:rotfl:I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Afternoon All :O)
I hope it will be - Det New MS xx

Look over my spreadsheets and organise my individual budget and the joint account

Hi everyone,
Thanks for starting us off LPP.
La e - I'm so sorry to hear about your pup
Sending lots of get well vibes & I really really hope he is on the mend! At least you caught it early enough, not that it's much comfort now I'm sure. Very scary sounding virus, does it only affect dogs? What about other animals?
Pixie - Fingers crossed your car is fixed very soon & for a cheap price! How typical it goes wrong just as the warranty ends.
Ziggy - Hope you're feeling a bit more cheerful later, & I hope your Mum is ok.
Goldblend - Well done with your fleabaying! I need to get on that but can't be bothered at the moment, it's too daunting as there is so much there!
Not having the best weekend so far, can't say too much but have raised concerns about the new neighbour's children. I don't think they're being beaten or anything like that they just seem neglected, it's really starting to distress me. Anyway, going to try & put on a positive face as we've done all we can for now.
So, todays' plan:-- Food from stores
- Log calories using free app
- Charge phone via pc
- Check online banking
- Trying to declutter a bit & do some flylady
- Must try & do a survey or 2
- Printed voucher from Mr T's price check, only 50p but "every little helps" as they say, will use this later when we go to get toilet paper as we're down to the last roll  I never let it get that low!!
- Go to second job this evening
- DH starting his month of no drinking, should save a pretty penny to be honest haha.
- Free exercise on pole at home
- Maybe get round to doing some fleabaying?? Time is ticking away...
