do you check your online statements as much as you would your paper statements?

I check my online account daily. If I didn't I'd really struggle to remember what I had spent and would come a cropper. So by the time the paper statement comes, it's old news.
It is handy to have the paper statements though for income-proof purposes. My bank (Co-op) charges £5 for a copy statement!Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0 -
heya, not sure what you mean by "after looking at [The MBNA Site] a couple of times I put the details for making payments into my online banks rather than logging in directly." ?
Just that to log in to the MBNA main account screen for credit cards, as far as I remember I didn't see any SSL whatsoever when the login process had finished and I wasn't happy about that compared to the normal SSL or the "Trusted" rating that some browsers give when using banking sites to make sure there's no phishing. As a minimum I like having the latter.
Going back to my own online bank, I used MBNA's sortcode and account details to make card payments until it was paid off, then got rid of it.
As for making a record of every transaction, I've got much better at putting all the paper statements in their own box file and that will do.0 -
i use egg money manager and therefore it logs me in to all my accounts but i only have to sign in under one password. i check my account on a daily basis as then you can nip any problems quickly in the bud
i thought that they stated that if you dont have egg accounts then they deny you access but i still have access to my non egg accounts0 -

If everyone let you have access for say 6 years I might consider it but otherwise its a big NO from me.
They also "time-out" and you lose access to statements older than some particular cut-off.
Nationwide only used to make the last 12 statements available on-line, and for older statements you had to pay £5 to get a copy posted to you. Not sure if they have improved this since the latest re-vamp of the site though (I no-longer hold a Nationwide credit card).0 -
Yep and a number of people were moved from Gold Visa to Select Visa. This was pretty automatic - you got a letter saying it was going to happen.
After the change, I immediately lost access to all my Gold statements. No problem, I saw it coming. I save the PDFs offline as they come in.
I think people should always store offline.0
