Obviously I can't comment on anything before this evening, but I don't think the number of adverts has been too bad so far - certainly much better than Sky, although I'm aware that that sounds like damning with faint praise.
The one thing that is annoying me is that, every time I access the live feed on the website, I have to sit through three minutes of adverts, and they're nearly always the same adverts - if I have to watch Jennifer Lopez advertising shampoo one more time I'm going to scream!
Looksguywalker - I'm sorry but I don't agree with you about the BBC coverage - I thought it was fantastic, although I accept that, as I was watching online, I may have got a different impression. I loved the multiple feeds, most with very well-informed commentators and - sorry - the lack of adverts was a definite bonus.
ETA - and that was the end of that - back to error messages and no sport. At least I got a couple of hours, which is better than I've done so far, I suppose.Back after a very long break!0 -
For anyone else struggling with the Channel 4 website, my sister has just tipped me off that everything's being shown on the website of the International Paralympic Committee - www.paralympic.org - and, unlike C4, it actually works! :j
I'm going to change the title of this thread now, to praise the IPC. :TBack after a very long break!0 -
Another option is filmon.com or their iPad app. That gives you access to C4 and More 4. I enjoyed watching Claire Balding trying to compose some order earlier today. First she let Ade know that Canadians and Americans were not the same thing when he started talking about athletes having great names. Just when she thought she'd managed to compose some BBC professionalism on proceedings Karen Pickering chipped in that her favourite athlete's name was Misty Hyman. Cue rapid change of subject.
The coverage so far this evening seems alright. They have to fund it with ads at some point and I haven't found it that intrusive. Much better than Sweden where we're lucky to get a short highlights program.0 -
Now what????!!!!
I was looking forward to watching The Last Leg at 10:30 but 4 seems to be continuing, UNSCHEDULED, the normal Paralympic coverage. There's no explanation and the website and onscreen programme guides still show The Last Leg starting at 10:30.
It's now 10:55 as I type this and nothing's changed.
UPDATE
It's now 23:10 and Clare Balding has just announced that The Last Leg will follow this program which stayed to watch the end of the basketball.
Is this going to be the norm for Channel 4 - chaos????0 -

Personally I prefer a broadcaster with the flexibility to delay a light entertainment comment show for extended coverage of the live sport that goes over the scheduled finish time. Would you prefer to cut the sport halfway through the last session so that we can see some studio-based vaguely comic review/comment?
One benefit of adverts is that there's no time to have someone like Denise Lewis talking about nothing (but looking pretty).loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -

Actually yes, since Channel 4 has another channel, 4+1 which is merely showing a repeat of everything and could be utilised during the Paralympics to absorb overflows and give the audience more output rather than showing everything twice.0 -

And the GB team were interviewed while other teams entered the stadium, which I thought was very rude.:(
The adverts may seem excessive but they would be within the rules. Have a look at what they are allowed to do by the regulator

Don't forget a break which just promotes C4 (or rleated channels programmes / 4OD etc) is not classed as a n ad break.0 -
Something I've discovered now that the Channel 4 website is finally working (they seem to have fixed it over the weekend) - if you watch the live feeds over the internet then, after the introductory couple of minutes of adverts, you don't get any more adverts no matter how long you watch.
You do get to see every medal ceremony in full, however, rather than watching the events that are going on at the same time - so almost no coverage of the field events - but that's still better than adverts.Back after a very long break!0
