LSG repair to Iphone Problem

I had my daughter's iPhone repaired under my policy with Lloyds TSB mobile insurance policy run by Life Style Group. The screen was replaced but not the damage to the rear case which occurred when the phone was dropped as this was considered cosmetic and not covered.

I subsequently gave the phone to my partner's daughter who has used the phone for the last 9 months but unfortunately dropped the phone and cracked the screen. The phone was not covered by insurance so she took it to the local Apple Centre to get it repaired. However they refused to accept it stating the the phone " is materially different from the authentic Apple product. Such difference s indicate to Apple Retail Store that the device for which you are claiming service is not an Apple product etc etc. " They also suggest that I might want to contact their counterfeiting department!!!

I have contacted LSG and sent them a copy of the letter.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does this mean that unless a repair is carried out by Apple, any future help from Apple will be denied. LSG insisted that I send the phone to them for repair but if they are not using Apple parts then the phone becomes unsupportable by Apple.

They have now upped their excess from £30 to £100 on iPhones but if the repairs they do invalidate the phone then the insurance cover is next to useless.
