Samsung Galaxy S2 Common Fault
Options
I've been experiencing a common problem, the same problem as with hundreds if not thousands of other Samsung Galaxy S2 owners have been having. The issue is that there appears to be a common fault with the phone's micro USB charging port. Because of this issue the phone likes to give me various signs to tell me that it's not very well. It likes to say it's charging when there's nothing plugged into it. It likes to go into driving mode when i'm just walking down the street. It likes jump in and out of charging mode like some sort of crazy charging kangaroo, making the most unpleasant repetitive beeping noise. When I actually plug in my charger, the charging kangaroo would appear and make the charging noise on and off all night, keeping me wide awake. If the kangaroo decided to sleep, the phone would actually decrease it's amount of charge when it's says it's charging up. It also likes to activate voice mode at completely random times. Now voice mode is a very useful tool, and upon activation it likes to ask me 'What you like to do today?'. How thoughtful? But at 4am, the only thing I would like to do is sleep at that time. I've tried telling it this but to no avail. It would also not switch on at all and flash up the battery symbol and a yellow warning triangle. No idea what that is or means.
Doing a bit of investigation, I noticed a lot of other Samsung Galaxy S2 owners were having the same, if it not similar problems, showing all, if not some of the above symptoms. I did not fear, I checked on Samsung's website, and realised I was covered by not a 12 month warranty, but a 24 MONTH WARRANTY! Phew! After reading all these other poor customers issues, Samsung must have realised this problem by now and will get it fixed straight away. So i rang them up and they instructed me to send it to their authorised service centre explaining that i'll have the phone back in just 5 working days.
So i sent it off and I sat and waited for my treasured phone to be returned, hopefully fully working minus the kangaroo. 5 working days passed, i thought nothing of it and gave them the benefit of the doubt with the Bank Holiday weekend as they must have had some catching up to do. On the 7th working a day I got a phone call off their authorised service centre explaining that they'd realised the issues i'd been having were because of a faulty USB port! Bingo. Fantastic, they've found the problem. Unfortunately, mine has 'signs of fluid damage'. Fluid damage you say? My treasured £500 phone, that rarely leaves my pocket, only to be answered or to text has fluid damage! Wow quite an achievement. It must be fluid damage that's causing these issues for these thousands of other Galaxy S2 owners. Even the ones that have owned the phone for just 3 days to a week that describe the same problem. But wait they'll still fix it, for a charge of £55! A phone, under warranty, having the same problems and hundred of other people, except they're charging me £55 to get it fixed. Ridiculous when my good work colleague had exactly the same issues and sent hers off to O2, who promptly had hers returned within 3 days! Fully working and fixed, for free.
Now is it just me or does it sound like they're using 'fluid damage' as an excuse to not fix my phone for free? Even if there is a slight bit of moisture in there, like a bit of kangaroo saliva or something, it's clear they're just trying to get £55 out of me when they know my phone is having the same issue as thousands of others. I could understand if i'd dropped it down a toilet or in a kangaroo's moist pouch, but i've done nothing of the sort as my phone is something that i'm always OCD over the top careful about looking after. I rang Samsung, they tell me they're not aware of this common fault, so I kindly instructed they to do a quick Google search on the issue. How can a major company like them be so unaware? I blind eye turned maybe? I think so.
Here's a just a few links out of hundred Samsung have failed to see previously: EDIT: OK i've realised they're not letting me post these links as a new user but a quick google and youtube search weill find you loads of bits on this.
I was instructed to send the phone to Inter City Mobile Communications Ltd by Samsung for repair, who currently still have it but i've instructed them to return it to me without them fixing it for a charge. Samsung have advised that I send it off to another one of their 'authorised sevice centres' for a second opinion, but i fear i'll only get the same response.
They need to stop beating around the bush and except there's a major design fault in their very expensive phones. I love this phone and when it works, it works very well, and I would definitely by a later model. I like Samsung products, I also own a Samsung LCD TV and a Samsung Laptop but the longer this goes on the more i'm thinking about never purchasing anything of their's ever again.
Any advice one what to do next appreciated
Kindest Regards
Stefan

Advice apart from the fact that this is a bit of a rant you need to speak to trading standards regarding your failed warranty .
Or replace the USB port yourself via Ebay would be another choice .
