Not feeling 100% today so went for a look around Dune!m to get some ideas for furnishing our home and then came back to chill out, good thing is it means a NSD :D I was feeling very cold this morning and couldn't warm up, a bit better now but going to treat myself to a bath later anyway.

I didn't do anything on my list yesterday but will do something today.

I have had to post on the techie board as my laptop is running very slowly and I can't seem to sort it myself, hopefully someone will help me and normal service can resume soon :D

Meal planning is not going well. On Monday we were due to have beef brisket from the freezer and when I opened it is had a strange smell and was full of water. Today we were going to have steak, took them out of the freezer yesterday lunchtime and they still aren't defrosted. At least on Monday we had something in the cupboard to eat (it was in the meal plan for tomorrow) but I don't have anything for today so we are going to have to have a take away. We have plenty of potatoes/vegetables but no protein to go with the meal and I can't live without that!

I have a feeling today could involve a lot of maths. My ideal mortgage free date is 7 years today although if my sums are correct then we will definitely be mortgage neutral by this point. I am going to see if I can work out what we would need to pay to get rid of both of the mortgages by that point but am not sure of the best way to go about it. If there was a mortgage calculator that you could put your figures in and put the date you want to be MF and it did all the calculations for you on what you have to pay that would be great but instead I will resort to trial and error on the current ones.

    The mortgage today stands at:

    Mortgage 1 (2.68%) £33890.16
    Mortgage 2 (4%) £112060.10
    Total mortgages £145950.26

Off to see what maths magic I can do!

I did all my random MF calculations on scraps of paper. :rotfl: the calculations never quite showed the figures I wanted them too :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Based on today's interest I think we could achieve my dream if we OPd £950 a month first on the large mortgage and then that total plus standard payment on the smaller one we would be mortgage free for August 2022. Early calculations show I could manage my half of these payments on my current wage if I keep an eye on my own spending and we don't go on holiday for the next 7 years  however I am not sure I can sell this to Mr AJM! Unfortunately I probably need to accept that unless we raid our savings at that point we won't be mortgage free then. I will have a look and see what other options there are and the good thing is that if my work contract gets extended I will know this in advance and we can plan accordingly.

I think the best option for me is to save as hard as I can which was the plan anyway and readdress this closer to that date. It may be easier to forfeit holidays for a shorter time period but not for 7 years.

Things I want to get done over the next 5 days before I travel south back for work.

Finally finish off work project (just need to annotate what I have used for info)
    Pack to go back
    Clean car inside and out
    Sort my cupboards and drawers
Sort vacuum stored stuff in spare room
Keep on top of spending diary
Plan lunches and make shopping list for next week

I have just set up a new spreadsheet for meal planning at work and am trying to do next week's at the moment. I only need to include breakfast (which pretty much stays the same), lunch and snacks and dinner is at the canteen. I am trying for more variety than I had during the summer as I got very bored but need to be aware of my fridge space. Once I have done next week's and the shopping list for it I am going to try and get a wide range, maybe 3 weeks worth, so I just need to go shopping each time and don't need to tax my brain too much!

If anyone has any suggestions of things for lunches please share them. I have access to a microwave and kettle and am contemplating buying a steamer but other than that it will be cold lunches.

Gas man was meant to be here at 9 this morning but didn't turn up  it has completely thrown my day. Very close to talking myself out of the gym so may have to go soon or it won't happen. It my last session on my own before my PT sessions start again so trying to use the motivation that it will make it easier next week if I go!

    Things to do before Monday

Finally finish off work project (just need to annotate what I have used for info)
    Pack to go back
Clean car inside and out Done but cheated with the car washing!
    Sort my cupboards and drawers
Sort vacuum stored stuff in spare room
Keep on top of spending diary Done so far
Plan lunches and make shopping list for next week Done as far as Saturday next week

Gas man came by at 4pm yesterday to do the work, I understand why he didn't come by after the explanation but would have appreciated a phone call or quick visit like he had done on Tuesday.

Spending is going ok, cheated by taking my car to a car wash yesterday but I hadn't washed it in over a year so it saved me a lot of elbow work! I currently have £10 a day to spend for the rest of the month. I am hoping to bring it in under this but it all depends on the shopping when I get back to work.

I wimped out of going to the gym yesterday but I am sure it won't affect things too much. I am waiting for my PT to text me back with our sessions for next week. We went for a run walk this morning, one of the last we can do together before I travel back. It has definitely got a lot colder in the mornings, I may have to start wearing something warmer. I am hoping to feel the difference in temperature when I am back in the south.

My stepson is going to help me sort my laptop tonight as I don't seem to be any further ahead with its sluggishness.

Trying to re-create a meal we had repeatedly on holiday, pan-fried sea bass, slightly salted jacket potatoes and broccoli and green beans. We are having shop bought cream cakes for dessert at my step sons to re-pay him for hopefully sorting my laptop out.

Going to relish the next 2 days with Mr AJM, in 3 days time I will be back in the south :(

My laptop works :j it was something relatively easy but it took my stepson a while to find it. It makes such a difference not having to wait all the time for it to catch up. Now I can get back on with my surveys :D
Dinner was lovely and the cream cakes were well received.
Unsure what we are doing tomorrow. If we have energy then we are going to see some historic scotland properties with a picnic, if not then we are going to have a nice day at home/locally.
