  • Hello all,

I have been reading various threads in this forum with interest as I have also just recieved a letter from ParkingEye about payment of a 'Parking Charge Notice' of £60.00.

I parked in the Leicester Forest East services on the M1 and just assumed that it was free parking as I have never paid to park in a services before. Apparantly the time limit for free parking is 2 hours and we were there for 3 hours. The letter says there are clear signs stating the time limits, to be honest I didn't even think to look so don't know if this is true or not.

Having read the other posts I am confident enough to ignore any future letters from ParkingEye. Just one point though, as I have actually broken their time limits and don't really have any excuse, does that matter, I don't suppose it does if they don't have the power to enforce the fine?

These companies make me sick, the way they rip honest people off, I am so glad I took a look on this site and read all the helpful posts. Thanks!!

Doesn't matter at all. Enjoy your game of snap with the letters. :)

You need to read the third from top thread, the forum thread list is always just one click away (see my signature).

So you stayed 3 hours in a two hour free car park? What were there losses? Nil!! That doesnt give them any ability to demand £60 or whatever from you. Ignore.

  • Brilliant, thanks for the advice.

    This has made my day!!
  • Hi everyone

I have a Parking Eye ticket for £60 for overstaying my welcome by 18 minutes in a free car park. I am just wondering does Parking Eye's CCTV cover the whole of the car park or just the entrances and exits? Can they tell when you actually 'parked' in a parking bay. There is a McDonalds within this actual car park and I spent at least 20 minutes waiting in the drive thru queue and for my order which I also had to wait for (busy Saturday afternoon) before we parked up to shop. Technically I wasn't parked in a bay for the whole time I was in the car park.

Typically just the entrance and exit. Anyway, it doesn't matter, they could have videoed you and your car in high definition for the whole time you were there and you'd still owe them nothing. Ignore the pseudo-ticket and all the follow up nonsense. Check out the sticky thread for examples of what to expect.

Really surprised how often people have read the advice to ignore but seemingly not bothered to properly read the sticky thread 'PPC letter chains'. Or only looked at the listed pics under their PPC and then panic when they get a different letter...a letter listed clearly under another PPC.

All the letters are there, you should just be playing a nice game of snap with them.

    :)

I have actually read the sticky but the letter I've got is nothing like any that are listed under Parking Eye's list.......

We got a Parking Eye letter back in July - we ignored the letters as everyone suggested (think they sent 3 letters)

Today I've received a letter from 'Debt Recovery Plus Ltd' they are now threatening court action if I do not pay the £140 within 7 days <snip>

Parking Eye usually use Roxburghe. I wonder if they've sold some old unpaid tickets to Debt Recovery Plus.

Please, can you photograph the letter, obscure any personal info', upload it somewhere and post a link.

As I said, so many people don't actually see what the sticky is showing them. Why panic when a different letter arrives...a letter listed clearly under another PPC.

If PE use a particular debt collector and you can see lots of other PPCs also use that debt collector then the letter you have got IS on the thread. Never mind if it's not under PE. Please have another look at those debt collector pics on the sticky, NOT just under PE.
