I will try ringing on Monday and see how i get on.
Apart from that i think we are getting everything we can.
You've never applied for child tax credit? What about WTC?0 -
Every privately rented property I rented provided floor coverings, curtains and blinds and a cooker. One house provided an american style fridge freezer too. The council house had lumps of plaster missing from walls and ceilings, a 1920's kitchen with one floor and one wall cupboard, and the garden contained 6ft-8ft high brambles with no useable space to even walk into it. I'm very grateful for it though and would rather be here!"Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0

I cant get WTC because my husband is unemployed.
Also the forms are so complicated, i dont have all my pay slips for last year so i have no idea in detail what i earned and what percentage was SMP etc.
I guess im scared of getting it wrong and being over paid or something.0 -
If you phone up the tax credits people and tell them your circumstances they will know what you are entitled to and it will all be sorted samwich."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0

I hope so, its just i was on maternity pay from april to october last year so calculting what i earnt isnt straight forward and like i say i havent got all my payslips so havent got a clue exactly what i earnt every month for last year.
Just hear so many stories about people getting letters saying they have been overpaid and owe thousands and i just dont want to end up in that position.0 -

You can get Working Tax Credits and Child Tax Credits as long as you are working 24 hours a week.
You are focussing on the wrong things. Forget about social housing for the minute. You are on the waiting list so have done what you can.
You are losing out on money that you are entitled to. This could make a big difference to you.
Reading your previous posts I know you are feeling very disheartened and frustrated and suffering some ill health too.
Sometimes things can get 'on top of us' and we can't 'see the wood from the trees'.
The suggestion to go to CAB is a very good one. They will help and support you in your claim for tax credits. If you ask, they will also look at your income and expenditure and see if there are any ways to improve your situation.
You could also post on the Debtfree Wannabe board (not just for those in debt) and see if the good people there have some ideas.
Take one step at a time and the first one must be - get the money you are entitled to.0 -

Most don't. Carpets most do provide, although their condition often is questionable.
Curtains and blinds are not often provided, and no curtain rails too.
Cooker - yes if it is built in, often no, just a space for it.
Sometimes previous tenants have left goods, although I have not often seen tasteful goods left......0 -
Some do, My friend rents out a house and it has curtains, a washer, fridge and cooker.
If you find yourself in a nice property that doesnt have all the necessities its not the end of the world. You get get really cheap white goods from furniture stores and also freecycle and Gumtree have some good offers.
I think you just need to keep looking at whats on offer. Also what about your parents, is there any chance of them leaving you anything like a property or some money to help you out?0 -
We had a mouse living behind the bookcase, I left it to the cats to sort out!
They never caught it, I think it just moved home itself!!
Our house is rural so it's just a fact of life there'll occasionally be the odd mouse or vole invading, especially when the winter comes.
But wouldn't have thought a mouse was something for a landlord to sort out. They can get in through the tiniest spaces so it's not exactly a property defect if you get one.
A rat or a squirrrel maybe as that's something you need expert help for.0 -
I had mice (most definitely plural) in a previous house (I owned). They were in the cavities in the walls even two story's up! I laid dishes full of blue poison at the back of a kitchen cupboard and the garage cupboards and drawers as we knew they were getting into those places, I was a little reticent as I thought they might all die in the walls and stink but it worked a treat. Two weeks later I stopped having to top up the blue stuff and there was no further sign of mice. No smell either. Result."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others.
