Earlier I'd asked if you had asked the council about their interest free loans for rent and deposit in advance so that you could afford to move and you said that they would only give you the amount for a smaller house than you felt you needed. THis might be a problem when bidding for a house as they will only approve your bid if it is for the house size that they deem you need?

They give you the 2 bedroom LHA weekly rate, this is less than the rents we go for and they are on the low end of the scale, so we would have to make up the extra.

That is the problem not the property size.

The way bidding works in our LA is that they state for each house the minimum and maximum beds you must require to bid for the house, this tells you if you can bid for it.

I have bid for 2 and 3 bed houses on Friday and it doesnt really matter because most council properties in our area are reasonably spacious whether 2 or 3 bedroom.

But again size isnt really the main issue its money.
