Thank you. I am hoping I can make some real headway once we complete. its been a long old journey to here! I wish I could achieve more like reducing it by 50k - but I think it all has to be looked at realistically. No good setting something you will never achieve! I am looking forward to this journey :)

I'm going away later today for a few days - fill in part of the half term with the kids, so I've just taken a quick look and caught up with the registrations before I leave. Apologies for delay - massively busy, both at work and home.

    Three just now, as follows:

    88. samtoby. Reduce my mortgage from £110,920 to £85,920.
    90. babyb06. Reduce my mortgage from £247,000 to £200,000.
    92. icontinuetodream. Reduce my mortgage from £57,000 to £10,000.

I'll try and PM every one above.

    Thanks for showing an interest,
    FB.

Hope 88 is a lucky number!

  • think i have registered...bit of a dunce when it comes to computers though!!! have failed miserably on the mfw2012 challenge :o but intend to make sure that nothing else sidlines me from now on!!:D

I'm not sure that paying off almost £4,000 constitutes a miserable failure... That's £4,000 more than most people!

    Hi,

Here's sending you some good vibes for a smooth and speedy completion ! It does not matter by how much we overpay, as long as we make some effort when we can. I can't wait to be mortgage free. It would give me a real thrill when my bank realise that they no longer have any financial hold over me or own any part of my property. Ok, I am being tactful here, I would probably go in and stick a finger up at them before happily skipping into the sunset ..... :D

I really want to get the balance down before we have another child. I have a son of 8 from a previous relationship and I can not wait to have a baby but our income will drop and I want to be prepared for that. My partner has some credit card debt as well which is shocking apr wise but that will be knocked off very soon.....

Maximum with Halifax is 10% so I am assuming that is 10% of the balance every year so it will decrease each time - what I would like to know - does that include the payments I make as standard as well?

I am hoping in the next year - as soon as we complete - I can make some real head way. And then present it to my partner :) how pleased I think he will be :)

Thanks SmileyG :D It's just that I sort of reset my target earlier in the year and thought I would be able to pay off a huge amount more...but life conspired against me (as it has a tendency to do!!;)) and it went pearshaped!! Never mind though...I am paying it off quicker than I should and will continue with it with the motivation, support and inspiration from all you lovely people!! :T

  • Hello everyone!

Would someone be kind enough to register me on this challenge. We have a very weak internet connection which won't load the registration page for some reason - not getting proper connection until 4th Dec !

Having just moved into our first mortgaged home we are intent on OP'ing as much as we can (with me being a SAHM).

So our challenge is to reduce the mortgage from the starting point of £97500 to £84000 during the 3 year challenge. This is a very ambitious target for us but need something to really strive for.

    Thanks

    Stacey x

    Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(
