Of course there is the option of if you are one of the customers affected you can always switch your account to a bank that wants your custom?
As you suggest, customers have choices.
MPs should have more important matters to meddle in.0 -

As for people on benefits if wont bother them as they would most likely have a free taxi ride.
So based on my own statistics I am sticking to my guns.
How AGEIST!
I am a Senior and I regularly visit ATM's. I also run my accounts online: current, Savings, ISA's, CCard, the lot.
You are one of those who sees "old" and thinks "past it".
I would like to bet that I am a better manager of my own finances than you might be. And I only visit the P.O. to post a letter or buy Mailing materials.
Does not surprise me that you put your location as "Nigeria". A sad attempt at humour, or true?I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

MPs should encourage their constituents to move banks, rather than wait for something that will happen in a month on Sundays0 -

They were obviously being provocative (like most of their posts seem to be) but it's a well known stereotype that many (not all, many) old people don't use ATMs but go to the branch counters/post office to draw out their money. My grandparents live in a small village popular with the elderly, and you can't park anywhere on pension day because hundreds of them have driven in to withdraw it all from the post office!
Not that there is anything wrong with them doing so - if it's how they want to do it then so be it, it's just an observation.
As to the thread itself, banks are not charities. They are not here to serve the country, they are here to make a profit. If they don't want to pay the withdraw fees on behalf of their less well-off customers then they don't have to. There are plenty of banks that will, if it's such an ordeal - move to one of them...0 -
Great footballer, legend in his day
Sadly died before his time. He was a fine man.

I don't like using these machines however I like the fact that I can use any ATM if I have to. I have their free Classic Vantage account and do not see any value in having a Lloyds AVA.
I guess the other drawback of the free Lloyds classic account is you are limited to taking out £300 a day from these ATMs, the counter is a way round this if the bank is open though. This limit really should not be based on the colour of your debit card (as it would appear to be).0 -
