Capital Finance One Emptying my account advice needed

Hi,

Im after a bit of help/information regarding Capital Finance One. After checking my bank account yesterday this robbing company have taken 6 different amounts from my bank account that totals to £264.03. They have literally emptied my bank account. I originally phoned my bank who informed me that i needed to phone Capital One Finance. I phone them and spoke to a very rude man who told me I owed them £130 from July 2009 and the payments taken was for this overdue amount plus interest. The thing is the account they have taken money from i didn't open until October 2009, so they didn't have my current bank details, therefore they have taken money from my account without any authorisation. The man then told me that i had recently applied for another loan through a broker company (which i haven't for a couple of years due to getting myself into some money troubles) who passed on my bank details to them and this is how they have them. Ive had no contact from Capital One Finance Prior to this via letter or phone. I cannot seem to find a website to get an email address or postal address as id like to have everything in writing. My bank has now put a block on my card and is sending another out and they are going to attempt to reclaim the money for me (im not going to hold my breathe)

Is there anything else I can do? Who else can i contact etc?

Many Thanks

Simple Google search comes up with:

    Capital Finance One Limited
    Copper House
    88 Snakes Lane East
    Woodford Green
    Essex
    IG8 7HX

Did you owe the money? I know it's horrible to have your bank account emptied - and I can't vouch for the legality of what they have done - but if you did owe the money from 2009 then that's probably the right amount owed by now!!!

I bet the OP wish that cancelling a card and ordering a new card works but we all know this doesn't have any effect whatsoever.

Thanks for that, ive google searched 'Capital finance one' and all i seem to get up is forum posts of people complaining that they have done the same to them. In all honesty i dont recall owing them any money, the only Capital One ive had any dealing with are Capital one credit card. Again thanks for your help.

ive never had this happen before and was quite shocked when i checked my account to see that my account had been cleared out. It was the bank that had advised me to black my card and send a new one out.

You would normally have to close your whole bank account down to stop them taking anymore payments.

Once again, a simple Google Search provides this:

    http://www.capitalone.co.uk/support/contact-us.jsf

Capital One Finance, it would seem, run the Capital One Credit Card. Did you owe the money on the credit card? If so, my previous post applies. If you don't think you did then ask them for proof of the debt!

    Hope this helps!

  • They only way they would of got hold of your bank details would be if you entered them on a broker site or applied to a sister site of capital finance one.
I do not think there is alot you can do really apart from report it to your bank. if your bank say there is nothing they can do then thats all your options gone as capital finance one will not give the money back as i have had them do it to me before
