Exciting things to do in the UK

Hi all,
I'm thinking about taking my OH on holiday during Oct half term (I work at a school), but he loves doing exciting things - kite boarding, surfing, climbing, and so on. I've been searching around the internet looking for something different and exciting that he'll love but that we can both do and I'm drawing a bit of a blank. Does anyone have any ideas?
If there's a couple of good places a little way from each other, I'm happy to plan half a week somewhere and then moving somewhere else.
Theme parks are out as we've done Alton Towers and Thorpe Park recently, and not really feeling another one - if they're even open in Oct/Nov.
Thanks guys! I'm probably just being rubbish at research.

You don't say where you are based or how far you're prepared to travel.
Scotland is a great place for an active holiday. Have a look at http://active.visitscotland.com/providers/highland-offroad/ for quad biking and other outdoor activities.
Also white water rafting: http://rafting.co.uk/tay1.htm
Or for something a bit tamer the Landmark Forest Adventure Park has a variety of attractions.0 -
