My first goal is to sort out my freezer. I aim to have 1 draw for just christmas food items by next weekend.
I am ahead of schedule. :j I have managed to play freezer tetris and empty one draw.

Today I have bought 2x pkts of sausage meat stuffing from MrT for just 36p. I guess they are about to change the packaging ready to the christmas one as all the other types were still a £1ish.
I have put a storage box under the stairs for them.:j

I wasn't going to go shopping but a friend dragged me out and I spotted these.

  • Talk about being organised Soworried! I haven't given a thought to Xmas food yet as I am too busy spotting bargains for Xmas presents on the Grabbit board. When everyone on my extensive list is ticked off then I shall turn my thoughts to food and menus! Good luck, I shall watch your progress with interest (and envy!!)

Aldi have new potatoes in the super 6. I am going to buy 2 bags for 39p each. I will cut them in half and par boil for 7 minutes.
I will then put half of them in a food bag with a teaspoon full of extra virgin olive oil and 2 crushed garlic cloves and a large sprig of fresh rosemary.
The other half in a food bag with a teaspoon of oil and some saffron. I will then freeze them.
That will be my christmas day potatoes nice and cheap. :j

I have just found out that Lidl weekend offer will be Gouda cheese 400g for 94p. I will get two of these to freeze. 1 for the cheese board and 1 to make the home made cheese biscuits with. :)

Thankyou to SB44 for posting. x

I bought my 2012 Christmas turkey from coop in 2011 at Christmas. It was reduced and lasts until 2013 so got a massive child sized turkey for £12 x
  • So worried I can see that you have some baking in your list so just to let you know that you can currently pick up 500g blocks of YUM butter (twice the size of most usual blocks) in Mr T's for £1 each using a price drop coupon- £2.60 each or 2 for £3 less the £1 off £4 spend coupon=£2 for 2! (as the til takes the price before the offer into account when allowing the coupon)

    HTH :)
  • My sister is coming to us this year so I will be doing the works. I usually buy a turkey but this year I am not eating meat so might just get a really big chicken and I have a Rose Elliot recipe for a Christmas veggie roast.

I usually start buying stuff in November, and do sometimes find stuff reduced - I will look out for stuff like sausages and sausagement from now on though. I don't usually make Christmas cake but am going to have a go this year as I have loads of dried fruit in.

Your menus all sound lovely by the way!
