Morning all! I asked yesterday about using an apg in an asda living store and you can but just wondering if an asda living store could produce an apg as the sell toiletries?

I have not tried so don't know but I would assume you could, you are limited in what you can get to make up the 8 qualifying items - it would all be haircare as I don't think they sell anything else

For all those that have phones that can use apps it may be worth downloading the Asda app. In the event that your APG is queried you will be able to show the staff easily and within minutes that your APG is genuine by inputting the receipt details in front of them via the app.

I downloaded it last night - put a couple of apgs through but it keeps a record of them - I wouldn't want a member of staff to see these if I got the phone out so I need to work out how to delete them so I don't look like an habitual user:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Can everyone check their APG's that are over £10 that the barcode is 9918422269992 please?:)

Hi Scamps . Just checked and all of mine are the same as above.
    If it's full price I don't buy it..if its 50% off I will consider it..if it's whoopsied and I have a coupon its in the trolly! ;)
  • Got royally trouted last night. I could actually feel my heart beating out of my chest and went a bit shaky!

I wanted to get rid of a £17 APG which was a bit higher than I would normally be happy using. The SA was lovely and just called over to a supervisor for some assistance. Supervisor has a look, gets out her phone and speaks to someone saying "we have one of these funny vouchers". She asked me "where did you get this" and me, thinking she meant the receipt as it was on the front of the APG, said "here" :rotfl:. I assumed the problem was because of its value. I asked "why, is there something wrong?" She replied "this is a fake". I tried to (vaguely!) explain that some items worked out much better value in Tesco but she just pointed to the barcode and said "see this 999, that means it's a fake".

I know now from searching through this thread that all APGs over £9.99 will have a 999 in the barcode but didn't know this at the time and had never thought to look before. Obviously, neither did she! If I'd have known, I would have told her that but all I could think was "flip, maybe I've put the receipt through twice" or something! It really threw me and all I could think was that I had maybe done something wrong!

She said that there is "another website" giving out fake vouchers when you put in your receipt details and that must be where I got it from. I told her I just followed the link when I went through Google. She went on about how high it was and the SA (who was on my side, bless her) was also trying to justify to the supervisor the reason for it being high! She told me that they had received one for over £33 that was fraudulent and that they had been told to now look out for any with 999 in the barcode as that meant they were fake.

A manager woman came along, didn't really add anything more, just said again what the supervisor had said, she told me to go through Asda.com and do it again. It was so embarrassing.

Needless to say, I wasn't able to use it so just lucky I had the cash on me.

Because I had now got myself into a flap and had other transactions to do, I ended up mixing my two other shops up and have now come away with a £19 APG instead of two small ones!!!! :o I'll be scared to use it now! Also, I had intended to use a few smaller APGs on the other two transactions but after being accused of the first one being fake, I didn't want to pull out a few more!!!

so sorry you got trouted :(

Anybody else thinking that asdas know about the glitch and this is them trying to cut the losses by telling staff there is a fake site and not to take the apgs???

If it happens again just calmly ask the supervisor to take the receipt over to their own checking system and ask her to input the details...make sure you go with her though:)

Funnily enough, I did suggest that but she didn't want to know

CAPTAINBLONDECHICK - do you mind me asking which store you had problems in? I used a high value APG last night (mess up me sums when doing the shampoo) but the lady couldn't have cared and just stuck it through and didn't mark the receipt. I did say did she not want to sign up but inbetween yawns she said "nah, s'alright". Needless to say I was a good girl and it won't be reused.

if i use self scan they tend not to sign them, all i do is fold it in half and tear it down from the fold so i don't get it mixed up with my new one:D

    1 x ASDA Smartprice Sweetcorn (326g)£0.33N/A
    1 x ASDA Paracetamol 500mg Caplets (16)£0.19N/A
    1 x ASDA Ibuprofen 200mg Caplets (16)£0.28N/A
    1 x Aquafresh Milk Teeth Toothpaste 0-3 Years (50ml)£1.00£1.20
    1 x Aquafresh Little Teeth Toothpaste 4-6yrs (50ml)£1.00£0.80
2 x Sensodyne Repair and Protect Extra Fresh Toothpast...£8.00£1.60

  • Nikki....not sure you really meant what you said here :eek::eek:

She did :) Hardened DTDers were referred to as a cottage industry of savvy shoppers or something similar by T when they had egg on their face over the original DTD scheme :D
