  • Got royally trouted last night. I could actually feel my heart beating out of my chest and went a bit shaky!

I wanted to get rid of a £17 APG which was a bit higher than I would normally be happy using. The SA was lovely and just called over to a supervisor for some assistance. Supervisor has a look, gets out her phone and speaks to someone saying "we have one of these funny vouchers". She asked me "where did you get this" and me, thinking she meant the receipt as it was on the front of the APG, said "here" :rotfl:. I assumed the problem was because of its value. I asked "why, is there something wrong?" She replied "this is a fake". I tried to (vaguely!) explain that some items worked out much better value in Tesco but she just pointed to the barcode and said "see this 999, that means it's a fake".

I know now from searching through this thread that all APGs over £9.99 will have a 999 in the barcode but didn't know this at the time and had never thought to look before. Obviously, neither did she! If I'd have known, I would have told her that but all I could think was "flip, maybe I've put the receipt through twice" or something! It really threw me and all I could think was that I had maybe done something wrong!

She said that there is "another website" giving out fake vouchers when you put in your receipt details and that must be where I got it from. I told her I just followed the link when I went through Google. She went on about how high it was and the SA (who was on my side, bless her) was also trying to justify to the supervisor the reason for it being high! She told me that they had received one for over £33 that was fraudulent and that they had been told to now look out for any with 999 in the barcode as that meant they were fake.

A manager woman came along, didn't really add anything more, just said again what the supervisor had said, she told me to go through Asda.com and do it again. It was so embarrassing.

Needless to say, I wasn't able to use it so just lucky I had the cash on me.

Because I had now got myself into a flap and had other transactions to do, I ended up mixing my two other shops up and have now come away with a £19 APG instead of two small ones!!!! :o I'll be scared to use it now! Also, I had intended to use a few smaller APGs on the other two transactions but after being accused of the first one being fake, I didn't want to pull out a few more!!!
If it happens again just calmly ask the supervisor to take the receipt over to their own checking system and ask her to input the details...make sure you go with her though:)

You're not alone in feeling like that;)

I'm glad it's not just me, went to A's last night and walked down the checkouts and had been served by nearly all of them in the last few days:eek::eek::eek::eek:And that's morning shift and night shift;):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

This describes my experience last night..I thought I'd found an SA that I hadn't been to recently..she had dark purple hair so I thought I would have rememberd that ...loaded all the stuff onto the belt..then noticed her face..she'd served me the day before... I'd used a hair glitch APG and guess what I was buying last night...:eek:...she didn't bat an eyelid..hmmm me thinks she had spotted the glitch from my receipt and treat herself to a hair dye !:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
    If it's full price I don't buy it..if its 50% off I will consider it..if it's whoopsied and I have a coupon its in the trolly! ;)

    Hi everyone :)

Have just got to say that I think this thread is brilliant and well done to all the people that put in the effort and find time to post about it, I think that is what has made me so addicted to reading through nearly all of the pages the last few days, it's so nice to see people getting such great deals!

I unfortunately don't live near to an Asda anymore and at 34 weeks pregnant with a sprained ankle I'm not sure I could bare the two hour round bus trip when I'm still an APG virgin and will probably do something to b*lls it up but I can't wait to read more, I feel like I know some of the Elites already so thanks for the entertainment :D :T

And a special thanks to Raven for the post about Mo Farah and ebaying empty tk bottles, was beginning to think I'd lost my sense of humour until I read this gem and nearly died laughing :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hope everyone gets lots of bargains today, realising that I am low on Loreal Elvive and batiste so may end up going after all if all still works, thanks to everyone that contributes, I do love a bit of consumer revenge ;) :T
Helllooo, welcome to the nuthouse. :)
OMG - you lot can talk lol
    :):)
Ever wished you hadn't done something? :D:D

Is anybody elses head wizzing with all the glitch info - this morning I woke up at 2am with my brain mashed trying to get todays shops organised in my head at least so that I can sort it out in between family, work, pets etc

I was also too hot so I thought I would go and check in and see that the Elite were playing nicely.

Sooo wish I hadn't bothered when I stepped in something cold, squelchy and soft on the floor - one of the animals - still don't know which one - had deposited something revolting on the hall floor. Yuk - I nearly died on the spot and as if that wasn't bad enough - as I tried to hop to the bathroom to clean up I overbalanced and knocked a pile of ironing over that has been dumped on the hall table for at least three days (too busy doing other things:cool::cool:) which in turn knocked over a plant that I keep there. So, stinky, squelcy mess with clean ironing on top and plant and soil all over that to top it off.:eek::eek::eek:

    Things can only get better:o:o:o:o
    Pmsl, :rotfl:
For all those that have phones that can use apps it may be worth downloading the Asda app. In the event that your APG is queried you will be able to show the staff easily and within minutes that your APG is genuine by inputting the receipt details in front of them via the app.

Thanks for this, i've just downloaded it. I've never had a problem with any apg my sada has some lovely staff in it. always good to be prepared though. :)

  • Hi Everyone
I am very new to this but have spent my time since I found this thread on Sunday night reading carefully and digesting slowly.
I know there is never such a thing as a perfect glitch but I am hoping
to spend my time and learn from the 'Elite'
I pledge to give credit ( and thanks) where it is due, and share any
Findings I have with you all.
I look forward to getting to know you all a little better, after reading 345 pages I feel I already know some of you well.

Thanks to all and to all a good night x

    Welcome and nice first post:)
