Spent the day prepping foraged stuff. Free food I LOVE!
Would be great if it is still on tomorrow.
Going to the inlaws in a mo for FREE Sunday roast too:T
The 'fruits' of today's labour so far....
Foraged a few of these apple like rose hips yesterday on the way back from Asda along with a full carrier bag of gorgeous elderberries from a local beauty spot:
So today, I have spent over AN HOUR destalking elderberries and coring the hips:
I barely covered them with boiling water and simmered until they softened:
I'm gonna strain em in a jelly bag and maybe tonight make either or both: elderberry and rose hip jelly jam and/or cordial......
Free food. Gotta love it:T
There's loads of stuff growing in the hedgerows around here. Masses of sloes in particular, but I'm no gin drinker
Lots of elderberries and blackberries too. I'd love to know how to make cordials JJ....any chance of a lesson please:)
My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.0 -

If A's have run out of SP-cond and you happen to have a bottle at home, could you take the bottle back in the store and pay for it again?
Get the gel instead?

Yes please
:):)
I'd thought about splitting them up and making a mousakka type dish with them.
I love lamb but my OH doesn't like it much.....or won't try it more like!
My MIL is a terrible cook (If you can remember "Can't cook, won't cook"..... she fit's both categories!) and he's been put off trying so many things. I have got him eating mostly anything now, but lamb is still a bit dodgy unless I can disguise it and tell him it's beef :rotfl:
Oh that's a shame! It's always disappointing when someone refuses to try someone based on assumptions etc. My sister hates lamb "because it's a fatty meat" but that is all down to the cut and how to cook it! My biggest pet peeve is "I don't like veggies"... any veggies.. I expect that from young kids but not adults :rotfl:
I'm thankful to have some amazing friends who are excited when I have new foods to offer. I've made authentic (as I can find) pulled beef burritos to char sui buns, all from scratch and a lot of research went into finding information.
Anyway! I shall get on with putting this recipe together for you! Not a great pic but this is the kokkinisto.
Table setting for burritos! Home made salsa, ranch, spanish rice and pulled beef.. The flour tortillas on this occasion were shop bought but I had made some previous, they where a bit small for this huge meal ha ha.
I hope I've made some of you hungry haha! Sorry if there images are a big large for the message boardEDIT: Oh yeah the board auto sizes. phew!
