Same sex couples are treated the same for benefits purposes, its just that most LA's don't like to tackle the living together aspect as they get embarrassed to ask.
You mean same sex couples get the same personal allowance as a male/female couple instead of the single rate times two? And only one of them can apply for benefits as with a male/female couple?
When did that happen?0 -

Its been that way for sometime as far as I know, were always telling our assessors to ask if two people of same sex share a house if they are a couple.
I wasn't aware other LA's/DWP weren't operating along the same guidelines.0 -

I just did a quick search and found a suggestion from 2005 that it was intended to be as you say but then I found this.
People of the same sex who live together do not count as couples for HB/CTB purposes.
Needs more research I think.0 -
Found thisCouple means
1. a man and a woman who are married to each other and are members of the
same household
2. a man and a woman who are not married to each other but are LTAHAW
3. two people of the same sex who are civil partners of each other and are members of the same household or
4. two people of the same sex who are not civil partners of each other but are living together as if they were civil partners

SAR from whom? And for what? Your friend will be allowed to see all the evidence when she asks for it as part of her appeal. I'm sure she will tell you what/where the supposed joint account is.
Your friend's account and benefit application is confidential to her so you cannot ask for those. When you apply for an SAR it is for your own accounts and details and all third party names should be removed.
However I did do an SAR myself (not from Benefits agencies) and all third parties were still in there! So sometimes they don't remove them, but they should."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0
