Hi,
I was meant to go for an atos assessment on 16 Aug. 2 days before I got a letter saying that they had enough info to pass to a medical advisor and that I didn't need to go for the medical just yet and it was cancelled.
How long does it usually take before I would hear from them with whatever decision they've arrived at? I've not heard a thing and its been a fortnight now.
I'm worried sick about what they may do and it's torture not knowing

The average is probably 6-7 weeks, but I know of claimants who have waited more than 3 months.0

jeez I don't think my heart will take it! Any clues as to what it means to suddenly get a letter cancelling atos assessment?
I was told it could be that they will either put me in the WRAG group or Support Group. But going by the people I've spoken to, it would seem that most people get put in the WRAG group. If that happens to me I'm then going to have to find out what to do next.
Have others received these letters too, and if so, when they got an update did they have to then go for an assessment?0 -
I'll take a guess here. They determined a face to face medical was not required if your GP could complete the GP form ESA113 and confirm your problems. The very limited time they give of a couple weeks wasn;t sufficient... they duly arranged medical... the form ESA113 duly turned up so medical was cancelled. ATOS supplied advice to DWP in the form of ESA85A report. DWP will take decision in due course.. probably after weeks.
That's my guess... and it would mirror another recent case on these threads. If so I advise calling DWP and asking for copy of the ESA85A and ESA113 is they exist.
The fact you haven't been called for medical after they initially aranged one would seem to be good news. But whether you're going to be placed in WRAG or Support group is beyond us here... the ESA85A would shed great light on what decision is likely as the DWP will likely rubber stamp the advice in it."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0 -

Thanks, when would I be able to ask for the ESA85A?0 -

Hi,
Yesterday Muttleythefrog advised me to request a copy of ESA85A and ESA113 regarding my current ESA assessment from Incapacity Benefit.
I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me just what am I entitled to have as well as the forms above?
Does anyone here who is going through the ESA assessment phase have any advice as to what to ask for and keep for future reference (if indeed there is anything other than the above 2 forms)
As my original post said, I was meant to have an assessment on the 16th Aug, but got a letter to say it had been cancelled and they were forwarding my information etc to a decision maker. I'm still paniacking as I don't know what the outcome is and would like to know what information I'm allowed to have and request.0 -
Just to say - the DWP cannot refuse you ESA without a face-to-face assessment, so this means that you will have been awarded some level of ESA.0

Hi,
That's what I've been advised by people here and I hope so, but I can't help worrying. I'm anxious to ensure that I get whatever paperwork I'm entitled too, especially if I'm put in the WRAG group rather than the Support Group.
I don't want to ring the DWP until I know exactly what that is as I don't want to come over like a numpty on the phone. I want to sound like I know what I'm talking about (even though I hardly ever do!)0 -

You can ultimately request a release of copy of all papers you have on file.. but to be honest the only obvious face value useful information would be ESA85A and ESA113 if they exist. As above... don't panic... my reading of your case is that you are not going to be found fit for work if you accurately report events above... it's a question really of whether WRAG or Support group is likely to be decided by DWP and getting the ESA85A will tell you what that is likely to be since the DWP will probably accept the advice of ATOS in ESA85A. I would request the documents ASAP...the DWP should now have them if they exist."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0 -

How rare is it?
If in fact it is quite common, what then is the point of filling out the ESA50 when the DWP can get the info direct from the GP?
ESA113's are not issued half as often as the old IB113's were but a few are requested.0
