Different address given to return ebay item?

Purchased an item from ebay the item was different that the listing, different specification etc.
I raised a dispute with paypal because I was getting nowhere with the seller I was awarded a full refund by paypal on condition that I returned the item to the seller.
I made a request several times to the seller who is a business seller for the return address. The seller would not give me a return address.
When I was awarded the paypal refund an address was provided by paypal to return the item to.
After the award was made the seller then provided me with a different address to return the item. My concern is what address should I use? perhaps the address the seller give me is a bogus address and cannot then be tracked and therefore no refund.
Any advice please?

  • Best stick to the address Paypal provided, this address would be the one the seller has given Paypal

Even if he has moved address and forgot to change it in Paypal, it is still the seller's problem not yours, make sure you use a trackable method (special delivery / courier) to return the item

Trouble is if the seller is genuine and the paypal address is incorrect the returned order may get stuck in limbo and not get signed for.
or perhaps it's the sellers responsibility to collect the item if no one is available for the collection and signing?

You will be refunded so long as you have tracking showing attempted delivery at the address paypal has given you.

As starrybee says, you only have to show attempted delivery, delivery or refusal to win the dispute.

It's a common misconception and one some people cannot seem to get their heads around. Come Sept/Oct Paypal are removing any requirement for a signature (which currently is only for items £150 or more).

You are reading it wrongly. It still needs to show attempted delivery when returned so tracking is needed

In Oct PayPal won't need a signature for items over £150 or more. It's the signature that causes confusion. A lot of people think its a requirement but it isn't until you talk of £150 upwards.

Returns are a different kettle of fish and only need show one of the three status - attempted delivery, refused or delivered.

Only when you read it out of context, you failed to quote the sentence above this one!

It says NO SIGNATURE - not no tracking!
