I bought the CeMAP course from a website called the Herne Group, i didnt realise that i had to buy it directly from IFS, so now to register and do the tests i had buy it also from IFS, so ive bought the same course twice. How can places sell a course like this? Have i been conned by this company? I sent them an email how i go about sitting the tests and i was told to enrol with IFS....

IFS administer the exams and can provide study material. You bought training from the Herne Group., some of which is IFS material and some is their own material and tutors. Whether you have been ripped off depends how much you paid and what training & support you got in return.I am a Mortgage Adviser

I bought the course for about £700. It is quite good as it has lots and lots of study material, i dont know how that compares to what the IFS send out.0

Have you got some training from your employer? The Cemap course from the IFS is not too bad, hubby is doing it at the momemt as I plan to employ him in November this year. I think it costs £110 or something which includes the exam, might be wrong though!I am a Mortgage Adviser

I am doing this course alone, i have no help while studing for this, i find that the notes i have and help from the net answers the questions i have - hopefully. I have a disc for practising for the test and i am just hoping that this will be enough. I dont know what to do after i complete the course, so any advice is welcome as to where to look for work.
Good luck to your husband....0 -
Hi Me
Most newly qualified brokers go to the bank and estate agency for work. it is quite difficult to get into but once you have broken through and got that first job you are in, you just need to train and get better and better and that can only come from experience
you probably been told this already but sitting cemap is like taking a driving test, its a benchmark to say you can perform the basic thought processes needed to give advice but a lot of fine tuning is needed. you really start learning when you get into the sales and advice role
a friend of mine who passed cemap last year got a job with yorkshire building society and I know cheltenham and gloucester take on trainee advisers too. I'm not sure about the other banks as I'm not from a tied adviser background I've always been whole of market, but let me know what area you are in and if I am familiar with it i can give you the names of big mortgage companies who would be worth a tryI am a Mortgage Adviser

It has gone up in price to £130 x 3.
It is impossible to find a placement with an employer. They all want full CeMap and one year minimum experience.
I take my CeMap 2 & 3 exams this week and my CeMap 1 on 2nd May.
I found a placement with a Company who are taking me on as soon as I pass my CeMap 1 - to train me and to teach me. It is self-employed but with a lot of support for a long period of time. The percentage split is excellent too.0 -
Do they provide you with leads? I know openwork, Lime, M&E Network and Network data will all take trainee's on, but they are usually placed within an established company in the network to be trained rather than the network training themselves
Good to see new blood coming into the industry, the current climate does not make it easy for youI am a Mortgage Adviser

Mortgage mamma - thanks for the advice and offers, its nice to know that there are people there to help out.
Shameless - one thing i had thought about was sitting the module 1 and trying to get a position with a firm that would train me while i studied for the other 2. I had seen a couple of ads on a website where they said they would do this. I think something like this would be the best option. Like MortgageMamma said its like a driving test, best learning on the job.......0
