I don't even let my missus know what I earn as she would just go on mad spending spree's, I do give her a decent amount though and also from time to time give extra to treat herself.
I like a buffer of a good few quid just in case of a emergency.0 -
My situation is tricky at the mo- my hours have been cut recently, so I'm honestly not earning a lot. Although I have moved back in with my Dad who has said because of my situation I don't have to pay rent the only outgoing I have is my phone bill. I haven't told my friends this though as I know some of them will say "I'm lucky" and make comments like "I wish I had nothing to pay for" but in reality I've just hit a hard time and I'm lucky to have a Dad who will help. If I didn't I would be up !!!! creek.
I don't spend much. I allow myself a few little treats otherwise I would go insane, but I have money leftover every month and I'm still putting a little away. I won't tell my friends this though. My brother found out recently and kicked up a fuss, which upset me- we all know how much he earns because he brags about it in public, but in private he has moaned to me and my Dad about the debt he is in. My Dad even drew up an action plan to help him get out of his debt, but he's ignored it and since bought a Mercedes. I'm living accordingly to what I have at the moment and working on making my situation better. My budget won't allow for me to go out and buy and really swanky things and I guess that's just tough. I'm hoping once I've sorted my problem I'll be able to treat myself a bit more whilst putting money away. Some people are of the "live for now" moto, but I'm more of the "I'd rather have £400 in the future than £200 right now"0 -
I'm dead dead poor, and even if i wasn't i'd be telling you i was.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

We live on about £25,000 a year between us, with two children, (we take home about £140k/year between us) and when the money's gone, it's gone.
We've spent the money in the past on the big house etc etc etc, and now we've got everything paid for, it's nice to be able to save!

Do you mean I certainly am lying?
Have I read this right you put £115,000 each year into savings and live on £25,000?The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Steve Biko0 -
I'm definitely more well-off than I say I am. But once my money goes into my savings it may as well not exist in my mind.0

This is exactly how I feel. I put everything spare in my savings and the money is counted as spent.
I don't discuss my finances with other people. I don't pretend to be well off or not and I don't discuss my salary.0 -

I read it that CK was saying I certainly am, to the title of the thread.
I come across CK on another board, he's really hard-working and from what I have read, that's probably about right!0 -
Sometimes I say or, sometimes don't. According to situation, I have to say for the self esteem.0

Dont tell anybody how much i have in the bank. It's not a huge sum, but i am happy that i have enough to keep me out of trouble.
Also what i earn, whilst not being a secret, i don't brag, or moan about.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

Don't know why everyone's so anal about money tbh. If someone asks how much I earn I have no problem telling them the truth, likewise if someone asks how much I have in the bank. Though the former seems to come up more often than the latter.0
