My dishwasher is not washing properly?

I have not had a dishwasher long - maybe 3 months - and the last few washes it has not been washing everything as it should and half comes out clean and half comes out dirty. I've got another 1/2 load of dirty plates this morning and wanted to double check I was maintaining it properly. It does not seem to be any one side, just random.

I use an all in one tablet and my husband has put salt in the container, the salt light is on but I am using an all in table tablet and they have salt in them.

I've started using the finish all in one that came in a silver wrapper, then I switched to Fair Platinum (I had vouchers) and now I am using Finish All In One in a white wrapper, as I got 72 for £5 in Asda.

I mainly have it on the 'Quick and Clean' function that washes at 60C takes around an hour.

This morning I have had dirty plates again so I've just put it on the thorough wash programme at 70C.

Is there anything else I need to do or I am doing wrong?

Sorry if I am not using the right terms, as I say, I am new to having a dishwasher.

Thanks.

when i get any dirty pots in mine i fill salt and rinse aid up and check filter in bottom and that usually sorts the problem..ive read that the holes in the arms can get blocked so maybe check those

If the top is dirty and the bottom clean (or vice versa), then I wouldsiuspect that one of the spray arms (upper or lower) has failed or blocked. Remove and clean.
But the very first thing to do is to clean the filter.

Could you be overloading it, this is what happens to mine if things are too close together.

Put plates in every other wire in the bottom instead of every one.

    It makes a big difference.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

    * check filter,
    * clear holes in rinse arms
    * check nothing sticking up/down to impede the arm when rotating
    * check tablet flap isn't constricted by anything in front of it
    * Under NO circumstances put any pots in containing weetabix remnants

    this!

and ditto the weetabix UNLESS you wash after breakfast! The Weetabix sets like concrete if it gets a chance to dry!

We put ours on hottest cycle with nothing in it except for a dishwasher tablet every few months, after cleaning out filter in the sink. This seams to clean the machine and we notice better cleaning after its been done, mainly on glasses.

If you are still struggling with it, try one of those dishwasher cleaners, i use the ones from the pound shop every now and again and it gives it all a good clean

Thank you for the replies and tips. Everything has come out clean after a good hot wash but I was worried I had some something wrong. I will have a look at how I remove and check the arms and I'll get the salt filled back up (we have never used rinse aid).

Was so much quicker washing up by hand, LOL.
