Work capability assessment - types of ID

Hi, I realise there'll be information on this somewhere but I can't seem to find it. I have my ESA assessment on Friday and it says I need 3 forms of ID such as passport, birth certificate, drivers license or utility bills.

Now I can provide my birth certificate and driver's license but the only other thing I can find is my motor insurance certificate - I still live at home so utility bills are in Dad's name. Went to paperless banking ages ago so don't have anything for that... just a bit worried about what would be accepted as a third?

Thanks.

Oh also I didn't for my 1st but I know it's recommended, how do I request a copy of the report? Or can somebody else do it for me?

Sorry for the questions, all a bit sudden as the letter suddenly appeared rather short notice! Thanks anyone.

  • Are you sure that you need more than one form of ID? Usually a DL with photo is enough as this has your date of birth on it anyway. I'd just take birth cert and DL and explain that you do not have a utility bill as you live with your Dad who pays those. Does your bank ever write you a snail mail letter? If yes take one of those. Will have your name/address on it. I get letters even though I am 100% on line.

GOsh do you need to supply all that? They'll be looking for proof of name and address... you can prove name without a problem with the Driving licence... address is a problem for you though... they'll probably be looking for a recent document that ties you to where you live.. utility bills are the best.. bank account statements almost as good... hmmm.. ahhh.. benefit award letter..lol... surely that is as good... might be worth checking with them.. your last DWP (or council) benefit (award) letter might do the job as proof of address... make sure you take your appointment letter too. Quite frankly I wonder if they'll ask for proof of ID or if they do that they'll want to see all that... 2009 when I had my face to face medical and all I showed them was my train ticket for a refund..lol. I could have been Danny La Rue for all they knew... judging from the medical report I do sometimes wonder.

After the medical... perhaps wait a couple working days... call DWP on number at top of DWP ESA letter and ask for copy of the ESA85 ATOS medical report they should be about to receive from ATOS.

If you get sick of dad and make it to the support group you can move in with me and pay the leccy bills for future use.

  • I had mine yesterday and took my bus pass and a hospital letter . They arent that fussy so dont worry too much xxx
  • Erm does the appointment letter still say in bold....

You should bring this letter as proof of your identity with you.

as that is really all you need :rotfl:

I do not see why you would need anything else tbf!

Nope, now it says "this letter AND proof of your identity", the little booklet says passport or 3 types.

Frankly anyone who goes to one if they don't absolutely have to should probably be put in a mental institution.

Thanks all, I'll just find something that has my address then for double proof.

Muttley, you only want me if I make it back into the support group?!

What happens if someone is working a scam and has nothing wrong with them but sends someone with no legs in their place for the medical. It's just to show you are who you say you are.

The o/p will be ok with there birth certificate, driving license and their motor insurance certificate as that will have their address on it.

Sounds like photo driving licence and the appointment letter will do.. make sure you claim back travel expenses when you get there...lol.

Yeah it would take a strange kind of crackpot to go around impersonating people in order to do ATOS WCAs.

lol... yes.. what kind of guy do you take me for... I'm not the sort of guy who takes in young ladies from the WRAG haha!

You're right that is what it says! No wonder the receptionist was giving me daggers as I was waving the letter in front of her face when asked for ID going oh no not another one :D

My comprehension is just not what it use to be :rotfl:

I'm liking the idea of an ESA assessment sitters website though! Offer up some fake services and see who bites or.... we could use it as a tool to prep folks unexperienced in descriptors and how case law should be used by DMs :j

Haha... oh I've got some incredible ideas whirling around my head. I imagine turning up as a dalek for someone claiming to have mobility problems and communication issues.

Descriptor 17a "Occasionally has uncontrollable episodes of aggressive or disinhibited behaviour that would be unreasonable in any workplace."

"Exterminate... Exterminate... Kill the Doctor... all earthlings must die"

Customer had difficulty coping at the medical
    Customer lacked facial expressions
Customer had poor rapport and eye contact
Customer dressed mechanically and was appropriately groomed
Customer did not tremble or shake
Customer had no problems attending the medical assessment centre - arrived with friends by spaceship

I recommend the customer will be able to return to work within 3 months following suitable treatment.
