    Hi Canuck ,
My wife and I are about to purchase a new combi boiler. We have been quoted £2,700 for a new Ferroli Optimax boiler by a reputable firm also six rads. Is this a good deal , are Ferroli boilers any good, I know they are cheap to buy.

Freind of mine works for a Corgi Man in Liverpool - swears by them. Won't fit anything else unless requested. Even got one himself.
    Me - I'm going for a Worcester.

Worcester or Vaillant for me! Stay clear of Biasi and Saunier Duval.

Thanks for the replies, been very helpful :)
We've narrowed down the choices to 2 models, either the
Ecotec Plus 837 condensing or the
    Ecomax 835E

Not sure what the differences are, they are both A rated, I went to the website and from what I gather the plus model has better controls and diagnostic display, here are details for both:
Comprehensive status and diagnostic information and push button programming
    vs
    Provides status and diagnostic information
Prices are about the same for both models so not sure which one to get, Any suggestions from people in the know would be appreciated as I cant see much difference, the EcoMax does sound more efficent tho!.

Also has anyone used https://www.vhsdirect.co.uk , there the only ones I can find which offer a 3 year guarentee on all vaillant boilers which can be pretty handy.

    Thanks again

I have got a Ferroli and have nothing but trouble with it. Just had to get a PCB replaced and it cost me £400 for a boiler less than 2 1/2 years old. I contacted Ferroli as I felt main compnent should last longer than but they didn't want to know.
  • I would strongly recommend you dont purchase a ferroli boiler.
They are very unreliable and always break down just after the warranty expires. The parts are very expensive and dont tend to last that long after being replaced.
I am a gas installer and have fittted nerly every different make and model of central heating boiler ever made. I would suggest you upgrade your system with a worcester bosch boiler. there cdi range are very impressive. And is my number one choice for recomendations. ask any real gas installer and you will get the same answer.I have fitted next to 150 of this range of boiler and to date have never had a single problem or complaint. I think this speaks for itself. Worcester boilers will out do any valliant boiler, Even valliants new ecotech boilers. valliant are having continuing problems with there new range. if you want a good reliable boiler that can be fitted forgotten about and left to do its job without come backs, worcester bosch is the way to go.
