My husband took a radiator off the wall to repair a crack in the plaster. He waited for summer as we wouldn't need the heating on, it was off for a couple of days. The room has now been decorated and the old radiator is back in place but I've just put the heating on and not one radiator in the house is getting warm.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

First of all, we need more details ie type of boiler. If its a combi, check the pressure gaugeYou have been reading.....another magnificent post by garethgas :beer:0

Pump has seized up while the system is drained is the most likely explanation. Usually there is a large screwhead on the shaft end of the pump, which is a big plug covering the end of the shaft. If you undo this, you will find that there is a smaller screwdriver slot on the end of the shaft which will allow you to free the shaft of the pump.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Thank you DVardys, my husband is looking at the pump as I type. I don't think he knows what he's looking at or how to repair it but he's looking.
The radiator was off for less than a week!0 -
have you been using the boiler for hot water while the rad was off or have you been using the electric immersion ? also check the smaller of the two tanks in the roof the ballvalve maybe stuck in the closed postion (try pushing the arm down) & the system is empty, plus as DV said the pump could be stuck.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

Ooohhh a Corrie fan, me too.
Yes we use the boiler to heat the water and that's been working fine. Thank you. He checked the tank in the loft and it's full.0 -
yes what about poor old tyrone ? oh sorry i went off track then, it could still be the pump but if you have been using the boiler for hot water that is looking slightly more unlikely, check the system is full of water & see if the rads now req bleedingI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Please could you tell me how to check if the system is full? He didn't drain the whole system down when he took the rad off, he turned the valves off.
I think Tyrone is in for another beating.0 -
sometimes it can be difficult but first look at the header tank in the roof (smaller one) this should be about half full push the arm on the ballvalve down to make sure that is working & try to bleed some of the rads upstairs, if you don't get any water out of the bleed points on the rads then i would say you either have an air lock or the cold feed to the heating is blocked, if it's an airlock then it can be difficult to get rid off, but check the pump & roof tank 1st.
How hot is Michelle looking lately.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Thanks for your reply, water is coming from the bleed point on the rad and he checked the loft tank earlier.
I love Michelle's hair but why Steve?0
