3 sim in unlocked phone?

Hi guys,
I know you ladies and gents are the best to ask.
Does a 3 sim work in an unlocked phone?
Looking to re-new my deal with 3 but am looking at phone options. Am possibly going to buy a phone via Ebay but I want the best possible phone for my money and obviously dont want to be restricted to 3 sim lock mobiles only.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

yes it works perfectly, but it has to be a 3G phone.0
