Dominos pizza online order warning

Hi,
Wasn't sure whether to post this as in some way a bit embarrassing to get caught out as we did last night. We ordered a pizza online from Dominoes to be delivered to our home (which it was). Minuted after placing the order we had a phone call from someone claiming to be from Dominoes wanting to check our payment details. Thought it a little strange as never happened before, but gave them anyway.
A few minutes later Santander called to ask if a payment of £350 was one we recognised. We obviously said no and they cancelled the payment and the card used. So praise to Santander for that action. A bit concerned over how this all happened. We then called the Dominoes shop who knew nothing and also the police. It just seems a very carefully thought out con. What is curious to me is how the person knew we had just ordered a pizza, unless he works at the Dominoes shop and is passing on information to someone else? Or could this be related to their website being hacked in some way?
Anyway a warning not to get caught out as we did last night.
Neil.

Sounds to me like it is your PC that has been hacked.0

2 Possibilities:-
PC has been hacked. Most likely.
or
Staff are being naughty. If this one:
If I were you I would phone the store, and ask the manager for the Area Manager's contact number. Give the area manager a call and say you are very worried something fishy is going on, they will then investigate.
However, in store, they do not get any information about your card details when you order online. The only information they get is whether the order has been paid for or whether you were
planning on paying with cash.
And sorry to be pedantic, but it's Domino's. There is no e. (I worked there for so long it got to me!)
However before doing the latter, I would make sure it's not your PC. As it's most likely. (The staff won't have time to be calling people up!)0 -
Ah, yes, that could have happened. I hadn't even thought of that possibility. I'll check the PC over tonight when I get home.0

You didn't click on an 'advert' in an email, did you?
Are you *sure* you were on the real Domino's website?0 -

No clicking on adverts in emails and so far as to whether it was the real Domino's, I assume it was, as the pizza was delivered, which is why I wondered if their site had been compromised. But, as has been said it is likely that our PC has been compromised in some way.0 -
could have been something like a fake front-end which redirected you to the real site after taking your phone number...knowing you were likely to order a pizza there and then, so they call up 10 mins later asking for the card number...0

I wouldn't take that for granted though. It's worth a call to Domino's head office.0 -
The store staff don't see the card details but probably do see the phone number and name, so could call pretending there is a problem with the card and getting you to repeat it.
Or it could be some random punter who hangs around the store watching as orders go up on the TV screens and calls the number etc.0 -
The shop staff certainly see the contact details of the customer, or can access them, because theyve called me before to notify me that they were out of chorizo and asked if i wanted an alternative.
If your phone logs calls received, check the number the person called from. they might have been dumb enough to use the branch phone. Failing that you may at least have a number to report to the police.0 -

Poor value maybe (this is the case with just about all takeaway food, but people don't generally buy food like this because of the value aspect of it), but a ripoff?
If something (be it food or any other product) is clearly advertised at a certain price, and when it comes to paying, you are charged the known and agreed cost, where does the ripoff come into it?0
