we love West Malling, don't love the house prices there:D that's why we considered Larkfield or Leybourne, the house we were meant to buy (the seller pulled out on the day of exchange after 4 months of process) was in Larkfield, Poets development area.0 -

Ah, I see! I used to live in East Malling, in the lovely old part of the village. It is cheaper than West Malling, but trains not as good and crappy council estate (and school) on your doorstep. Larkfield and Leybourne are OK, but don't really feel 'villagey', more part of one large conurbation of Maidstone really. They also don't have a walkable train station as I recall - does that matter? Have you looked at other places on the West Malling trainline?0 -

Doesn't need to be walkable distance from the station, as long as there are buses (max 10min or so to the station). We looked pretty much everywhere on that trainline and everywhere around Bean, Longfield, Hartley and New Ash Green, no luck so far, market seems very quiet at the moment, not many houses up for sale, especially in villages/little towns:(0
