  • South Darenth seems nice, though nothing suitable on the market:(

But now we are really concerned after your comment as we wouldn't want to have kids in a village which everyone tries to leave because of crime etc.:(

To be honest, this is not unusual in many rural areas - no local economy, nothing for kids to do (in their view!), cinema miles away, rubbish local transport so they can't go and meet their mates. I could go on .....
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)

We are not that bothered about 'nothing to do for the kids' as long as there is not too much crime going on around :) I'd rather they grow up in a small village surrounded by greenery, fresh air etc, than traffic, noise and stabbings/shootings on nearly every corner. I guess we, as a parents (not that we have kids yet!), would have to work harder to entertain them :D
  • Sorry, I have only just re-visited this thread!

Sorry to bring a downer on N.A.G. It's hard, because as I say there are good and bad in all areas, I'm just speaking from personal experience. The V.A. are all mouth and no trousers (is there still a rule about not hanging your washing out on a Sunday?) and will rarely enforce most of their 'rules' but the fees have to be paid. The village days etc are lovely, and do bring the nicer parts of the community together, sadly these are only on occasion throughout the year.

Just felt like I needed to bring a bit of balance :)

p.s. did you look at Hartley?
  • And i'm sorry, i couldn't resist having a nose... and if I went back, it would be here :D

we would prefer Longfield or Hartley, but nothing suitable on the market at the moment and prices in Longfield/Hartley are straight away much higher, I guess you pay for location:) Saw the above house on Rightmove, but it's two bed, and we are looking for 3 bed. Looks like will have to rent for a bit until we find something suitable, as our completion on sale is 31st October:eek:
