Too many people defend nastiness by calling it "banter." If you're not laughing and bantering back, it's not banter, it's bullying - very mild, hopefully, but not something that it's your duty to put up with.

Hey, thank you for giving me another perspective so far. It's always good to know that I'm not alone in this.

I don't think it would be aimed at my sexuality as no one at work knows. I'm out to my friends and family and that's it. If anyone asked me at work then I would tell them, but it's non of their business to be honest. I suspect some have guessed.

As for being jovial, yes I'm like that - but no more than anyone else. I do just knuckle down and get on with my job as best as I can. I suspect others may be jealous of me somehow, who knows? I never try to disrespect anyone though which I feel goes on sometimes.

As said, it's only a job at the end of the day. However, we ought to be able to function and get on with things without others feeling as though they can put hurdles in our way.
