Long wait for broardband

I have recently moved house and signed up with Virgin Media over 10 days ago for 2MB cable broardband.

I have recently been told that an engineer will install the service on 25th April 2007.:eek:

That is over a four week wait from when I signed up and really just isn't good enough, especially as they don't offer free or very cheap dial up or anything in the meantime.

I was just wondering how long other people have had to wait and whether its worth it.

Cable's always been slower to install because you obviously cannot do it yourself. I've been with NTL, now VM, for about 4 years now & have had no real problems - certainly a lot less 'flaky' than some ADSL services. Only real complaint would be that if the modem does go wrong (it's only happened once) you cannot just swap in another modem - it has to be brought out by an engineer & then activated (hence it's pointless buying a spare from EBay) - it took nearly 2 weeks for this when it did happen! - we did get free dialup in the interim & 1 months 'free' subs off them after a lot of 'shouting' though.
