I've got tickets for athletics 7pm Monday night. Does anyone know if we can go up earlier in the afternoon to look round the park? The websites that I have read are a bit confusing saying that you should aim to arrive 2 1/2hrs before and that the Stadium open 2hrs before your session time but can you enter the park earlier?

You can enter the park as early as you like and I would definitely recommend giving yourself at least 3 hours - just walking to the other side of the park and back will take an hour. I don't think you can leave the park and come back though.
  • Hello I just posted this on another thread, and only just saw this thread so am re-posting, sorry if I breaking rules, but could use some help:

Hi I wonder if anyone can help:

We bought tickets to 3 events separately and chose collection to save a bit of money, dh was only one with a visa in our household so he booked for me and DD for athletics (mon am), we live in greater london and as it said only the account holder could pick up tickets he paid to get up to Stratford to collect our event tickets- which he was given but not given any travelcards.? I hadnt read these posts so we didnt even know we were entitled to them

we had tickets for w/chair basketball for the whole family on friday - so we paid to get up there- not cheap.

Anyway we have (as said above event tickets for tomorrow and tuesday), and I dont know what tto do abvout travelling.
As per post #1 I feel confident in getting up to the olympic park with showing my event tickets, but will i be able to collect travelcards, so we dont get stranded up there for the way home?
I can imagine tfl and station staff being ok with this tfl /locog email and a copy of our email confirmatin /tickets heading

towards the stadiums/venues but a bit worried about that on the way home?

As DH wasnt given travelcards when he collected our tickets, we just assumed we werent entitled to them (we thought only those who paid the extra £6 for delivery were given them)
When at the olympic park tomorrow does anyone know if the ticket office staff give me the travelcards -because a) I am not the account holder and b) we are in possession of the event tickets., so have already collected our tickets just that we dont have our travelcards

I am getting in a bit of a tizz about it, and a bit cross at them as we didnt know we could have them in the first place.

And lastly, I couldnt find a telephone number for locog to ask directly

    Any help/pointers gratefully appreciated
  • I printed my tickets at home, and got the Javelin there with no trouble at all. When I got to the venue I just went to the ticket information booth and showed them my tickets and asked for travelcards. Was given them with no problem at all. Hopefully it will be the same for you.
  • thank you minty- a weight off my mind

I was there for the Olympic Games, at the Olympic Park and North Greenwich Arena. On leaving both venues, after watching the events, my experience was that the underground staff wave you through and the turnstiles were all fixed open.;)

The gamesmaker volunteers also told us to pass straight through the turnstiles and there was no need to show our travel cards.

They were more concerned with the flow of the crowd and getting people onto the trains than they were with checking tickets or travel cards.;)

I guess it will be similar for the Paralympics events.

    Enjoy.:)

I got a response from Greater Anglia stating they want to see the travelcard, and will not accept anything else, so they're certainly not showing the same spirit as TfL.
