TalkTalk Evening and Weekend Package...

I signed up with TalkTalk, just for their broadband, paid them £114 upfront for cheap line rental and joined their Essentials broadband package at a half price offer of £3.50 a month. However, they are also charging me for £3.50 a month for an evening and weekend calls package which I don't use! I don't remember signing up to this and it doesn't seem to be on their website's small print.

I've tried to look through 'my account' but just can't find a way to cancel the calls package. As I say, I only use their broadband, relying on my mobile for calls. Does anybody have any idea? Thanks!

As far as I can see on their website the evening and weekend calls are included in the Essentials package along with half price, £3.25/month, broadband. Line rental £9.50/month extra (paid upfront). There's an extra £4.50/month if you take up the anytime calls "boost", that's all. I did sign up for that package but fortunately cancelled before it went live. There was nothing about any extra £3.50. What is in the Welcome Pack or the order confirmation e-mail you should have received?
I'd join their member forum and ask on there. The U.K. based reps seem to be quite good at sorting things out rather than their truly awful non U.K. "customer services".
Are you sure they haven't applied a credit to cancel out that £3.50?

The welcome pack mentioned the £3.50 evening calls but the initial e-mail didn't. There was also a note elsewhere, perhaps an e-mail, stating that the first bill wouldn't be correct! It's all very strange!

I tried to join their members' forum but my account number wasn't recognised... I shall try again...

The first bill will be pro-rata'd as a part month up to the next billing date, and including the advance line rental and call package for the next month. Therefore it won't match the exact monthly sum you signed up for. The second month should match up, excluding any exclusive calls.
As above, E&W calls are inclusive in the Essentials package, so there should be only one charge-are you sure it's not been discounted further down on the bill?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
