  • I guess there's no way to cater for everyone and we pick up what ideas we can and adapt to our own circumstances - and localities.

In a reverse direction - I can now get to Aldi (ie since I moved) - but get very frustrated at the difficulties in finding some pretty everyday foodstuffs here (ie because there's no Waitrose or delicatessen anywhere remotely near me) and Aldi doesn't agree about what constitutes "everyday" a lot of the time (nuts other than salted peanuts for instance)...

    Horses for courses....

debbym look on the Aldi website, they are opening new stores all the time, maybe there is going to be one near to you in the near future

    https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/about-aldi/new-stores/ewell/

Ours has only been open for four years, before that we travelled ten miles to go to our nearest store. We have a Lidl in a town 8 miles from us, but we don't go there because of problems with parking.

Morrisons have some good deals and their bread is great we got one here two years ago.
Asda prices have really gone up and their bread is awful so we avoid them.
Sainsbury are pricy but there are a few things that I get in there and go up every three months or so because it is not in town.
Tesco.........never use it is too far away, moved from town centre to the borders of another town and it is as pricy as Sainsbury now.
Don't have a Waitrose near to us, again it would be an 8 mile journey.

We use the local butcher, greengrocer, market and farm for a lot of our fresh food.

Went into Farmfoods to replenish the 3kg bag of pasta that we used last month and it has gone up 50p a bag that is a 20% increase :mad:

Nearly as bad as the 102% increase in ASDA on smart price mayonnaise from 40p to 82p :eek::eek: :mad:

Try Iceland 3 kg Pasta £2.50, or Asda do 3 kg of wholewheat for £2.87 or 500g at Asda for 30p. I would just like to say to people try and ensure that you do get 3 servings of dairy a day at least, that is 200ml milk, 30g of cheese or 150g yoghurt. I am always on at my DD to get more dairy, but it is in one ear out the other! http://milkgenomics.org/article/milk-protein-diet-predicts-human-height/

    Super six this week

Isn't as good as the last couple that we have had :(

    4pack garlic
    snack pack grapes
    little gem lettuce
    500g jerseys
    350g cherry tomatoes
    200g button mushrooms

    All at 49p

The Co-op have iceberg lettuce on offer for 39p and I prefer that to little gem, plus I have been getting lots of seasonal stuff from the market and the local greengrocer.
