  • I agree, I wasn't too enamoured with the choice! Tomatoes & cucumbers are staples in our house. I hate celery but recently went to a Pampered Chef party where they cooked an impressive looking dinner with celery in. I was really disappointed! I thought I'd try it anyway &, guess what, celery looses the horrible taste it has raw, when cooked! :j

I think I may buy some celery whilst it's at that price & give the dish a go!

Here's the recipe if anyone fancies it. It's a cheaper entertaining meal or could be used as a cheaper alternative for Sunday dinner? https://www.pamperedchef.co.uk/images/public/uk/recipe_turkey_cranberry_ring.pdf
When seeing it being done, I thought that there were many ways you could tweak it to keep the cost down. ;)

I am with you re celery. I had it in a casserole once and was amazed that it has a nice mild flavour when cooked! Nothing like the devils food that it is when raw... ewwwwwwww

I might get some and freeze in portions to chuck into casseroles over the next month or two.

I was a bit disappointed with the choices too but will make the best of them in lunches.
  • I always put celery in a casserole and cream of celery soup has a lovely flavour.

I really must remember egg and chips for a cheap but delicious meal.

When we do have it, we love it but I just never think to do it!

After seeing this I actually added it to my menu plan and we're having it tonight (might also have a bit of bacon as there is still some left from the weekend:D)
