I'm glad it wasn't just me that thought £5 for a family meal was expensive, I didn't post earlier as I thought maybe I was over reacting but having read the above...nope we all feel the same!
Dinner tonight was left over turkey and leek pie, 4 portion serving and cost was £2.70 with frozen veg as well so about 68p each. The turkey was one I bought just after Christmas last year heavily reduced and hoping to get another meal from it which means a turkey that cost me £7 will have done 4 meals on Sunday, 4 meals from the pie and another 2 meals on Wednesday evening, getting 10 meals from the turkey has reduced our shopping cost this week as well as being able to buy mushrooms and butternut squash from A!di.0 -

Thank you BB but I have to say it is inspiration from you that Spurs me on to try harder.

or a hay box

Savings made can be used for extra food or to go towards heating costs this winter.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Sorry BB, it looks like I am stalking you!
I made one of these and they cook the most amazing food, I have cooked beef/chicken casseroles and I make sweet and sour pork in it as well. Everything has turned out so well that this was definitely worth the cost of the polystyrene balls and those I got from a beanbag as it was the cheapest way I could get hold of any0 -
I had a 'meatless' roast tonight, but not quite in the sense BB meant. I bought a quorn roast and we had had half of it with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, carrots, cabbage and gravy. I put some marmalade and mustard on the parsnips when I basted them and they were lovely.
I had a great cooking bargain today. My dd has just got her first flat with her boyfriend, but she is very ill and can't work just now. I gave them a lift into the local town today for shopping. I finished my grocery shop before them so decided to potter round the charity shops. One of them was selling brand new Morphy Richards fastbake breadmakers for £5. I think they are old stock & the booklet has a sticker on saying the two year guarantee does not apply. I have had one for years and love it, plus it saves me loads of money. I treated myself to a 'new' one and dd has inherited my old one. She is very keen to use it, so hopefully it will help her save money too.0 -
I am just wondering if anyone has nice ( and frugal) recipes that use jam. I have quite a lot in the cupboard, so am trying to use it up. I have made a Victoria sponge, jam sponge pudding with custard, a bakewell tart & jam tarts over the past few weeks. Any other ideas most welcome.0

prudent that was a great find :T
I have a panasonic bm that I really can't get on with, for one thing it is much too big for my teeny kitchen, so I bought a fast bake one from Aldi this week reduced to £24.99Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
